OnePlus 7T vs OnePlus 7: what’s the new features and upgrades?

By  Sigismondo Eisenhower 2019-09-27 807 0

Oneplus launched OnePlus 7T / 7T Pro and OnePlus TV on September 26, 2019. The previous generation OnePlus 7 and 7 Pro just released on April 2019. From OnePlus 7 to OnePlus 7T, the time is less than half years. What’s new features and upgrades OnePlus 7T and 7T Pro bring? And what’s the difference between the two generations OnePlus model. Let’s have a look.

OnePlus 7T vs OnePlus 7: the screen is bigger

One of the first changes we found in the new OnePlus 7T with respect to OnePlus 7 has to do with its screen. From the 6.41 inches of the first model, we jumped to 6.55 inches, thus adopting the diagonal of the previous Pro model but with some differences. Specifically, this new screen is not curved. The notch is also less voluminous and the brightness has improved, reaching peaks of up to 1,000 nits.

OnePlus 7T vs OnePlus 7: resolution is higher

The panel stays at 90Hz refresh, though we gain some resolution. From 2,340 x 1,080 pixels, we went to 2,400 x 1,080 pixels, thus maintaining the density almost intact between both generations. By the way, the new display supports HDR10+ content, unlike the HDR10 on the OnePlus 7 display.

OnePlus 7T vs OnePlus 7: charging time is shorter

Under the screen, under the phone casing, there's also a slight change in the battery, although it's not so much when it comes to charging speed. We will no longer have 3,700 mAh but 3,800 mAh, but the fast charge will go from 20W to 30W. A little more autonomy and less time glued to the plug, which is always appreciated. The new fast-charge is called Warp Charge 30T and will allow us to charge the OnePlus 7T to 70% in just 30 minutes, reaching 100% in the next half hour.

OnePlus 7T vs OnePlus 7: higher performance

We're talking about a high-end manufactured and distributed in the second half of the year, so the temptation to use the Snapdragon 855+ instead of the Snapdragon 855 was there, on the table. And OnePlus couldn't resist. So now we have more CPU and GPU capacity, but also more power to run artificial intelligence codes. And as an addition, there is no longer a model with 6GB of RAM but both are 8GB. The 128GB and 256GB are maintained, as is the absence of microSD.

OnePlus 7T vs OnePlus 7: new OS - Android 10

The multimedia experience has also undergone some changes. Not only because of the presence of stereo speakers or compatibility with Dolby Atmos that we already knew but because the haptic vibration engine has been improved. It now equates to the OnePlus 7 Pro although it is somewhat smaller, although OnePlus itself ensures that it is the same experience for both phones. Of course, we are talking about the fact that the phone arrives directly with Android 10, although OnePlus 7 is already receiving the update.

In terms of aesthetic changes, the new OnePlus 7T is somewhat thinner than the OnePlus 7, although the most significant is the one that affects the camera. We went from a vertical linear module to around module. OnePlus tells that they have found the optical way to include the improvements they have added to the phone. And while we're at it, let's jump to photography.

OnePlus 7T vs OnePlus 7: More "pro" photography with a classic triple system

Little time has passed between both models and nevertheless, OnePlus has wanted to take a step forward in photographic matter taking advantage of what already tested in the OnePlus 7 Pro. Thanks to him we now have a OnePlus 7T with the Sony IMX586 48 megapixels and f/1.6 lens, with optical stabilization and a focal length equivalent to 26 millimeters. As we can see, the opening of the lens has improved so now we will have more light in the catches.

For the second camera, we will have 16 megapixels with a wide-angle lens and f/2.4 aperture. It does not arrive stabilized, a pity, although with improvements such as the new engine for macro photography or night and portrait modes, which in OnePlus 7 could only be achieved with the main sensor.

And finally, the lens for the optical zoom. 8 megapixels optically stabilized with f/2.2 lens and a focal length of 52 millimeters. That is to say, the optical zoom of two magnifications. Let's remember that in the OnePlus 7 we only had a second camera for depth readings, so the jump is giant. But what about the front? 16 megapixels for selfies, here we have no changes.
