Oppo, Xiaomi: finish the notches, here is the first camera under the screen

By  Daniel Camilo 2019-06-04 131 0

Chinese manufacturers Oppo and Xiaomi have suddenly demonstrated an integrated camera under the surface of the screen. What perfect borderless design.

For several years, borderless smartphone designs have taken over the market. Now we expect our devices to have no borders around the display.

For this, the manufacturers had to compete ingenuity to integrate the camera at the front: in a notch, in the chin, or in various mechanisms and varied.

Oppo and Xiaomi seem to have got their hands on the first technology of the next generation: to integrate the camera directly under the surface of the screen.

It was through the account of Alvin Tse, the boss of Pocophone, that we could discover the demo of Xiaomi.

We can see a Xiaomi Mi 9 modified with the new technology and benefit from a complete borderless screen. The user then goes to the camera application to take a selfie.

It can be noticed that the display area around the photo sensor is off in this mode. The technology used works in the same way as the optical impression sensor, which has been installed for some months now also under the surface of the screen.

The Chinese manufacturer Oppo also made a very similar demonstration of this technology. Again, we can see the top of the screen, where the photo sensor hides, to be off the time to take a picture.

We can imagine that the first compatible smartphones will arrive before the end of the year. We can then say goodbye to slider mechanisms and other shark fins.
