Philips Wiz 6 model bulbs connected without a connection bridge

Philips is expanding its range of bulbs connected with a new product family: WiZ. Wi-Fi bulbs which, unlike the Hue, do not require a connection bridge.

Philips Wiz 6 model bulbs

Philips dominates the market for connected light bulbs through its subsidiary Signify and its Hue range. These connected bulbs connect to a hub - or connection port - itself connected to Wi-Fi and then manage them through an application, the smartphone's voice assistant, etc.

Now here are the first bulbs connected to Signify's Wi-Fi system that do not need a hub to work: the Philips Smart Wi-Fi Led WiZ. These are the result of the acquisition of the French company WiZ, which also specialises in connected light bulbs, last April.

6 models can be controlled from the WiZ application

What you have to understand at first sight is that these bulbs have no connection with the Hue bulbs in terms of use. To use these, you will have to use the WiZ application. On the other hand, Hue bulbs are not compatible with WiZ.

For the launch of the range, 4 classic models will be available:

● Diamand Warm White, offering a warm white at 2,700 K

● Cool White, offering a cool white at 5,000 K

● Tunable White, offering warm or cold white

● Full Color, offering warm or cold white and color

Two other models are a little more special since they will be filament bulbs:

● Dimmable Clear, offering a transparent glass

● Dimmable Amber, offering an amber glass

These six products price from $10 to $20, which makes them very affordable light bulbs, especially considering that there is no connection bridge to buy.
