PlayStation 5 - PS5 will not launch before March 2020

The PlayStation 5 is coming. I'm sure we all agree on that. The next generation of consoles is approaching with incredibly big steps. Sony has already released some facts about the new console. Now new information is appearing that will probably take the air out of the sails of the hopeful fans.

Because as Sony is said to have betrayed to the Wall Street Journal (via Takashi Mochizuki), there will be no launch of a new Next-Gen PlayStation in the next 12 months. So the earliest time for the PS5 would be May next year.

That doesn't mean, of course, that the PS5 won't be launched this year. After all, it takes some time to market and introduce the new console. Time that will quickly run out if the release is really set for mid-2020.

The main reason for this might be the never-ending rush for the PlayStation 4. In the last 12 months Sony has sold nearly 18 million consoles, only about one million less than last year. Over the next few months, Sony could break through the magic barrier of 100 million PS4 consoles sold. Currently, they are around 96.8 million units sold.
