The Apple subsidiary Beats apparently wants to bring its completely wireless sports headphones into stores next week, which have been hotly anticipated for weeks. The Powerbeats Pro come with Apple's own H1 chip for fast Bluetooth connections and support the Apple speech assistant with the command "Hey Siri". Thus, the new audio hardware directly competes with Apple's in-house second generation AirPods, which also include H1 chip and Apple's digital assistant.
At first only one color
As now 9to5Mac writes, Apple plans the sales start of the Powerbeats Pro for the 10th of May, Friday next week. However, only the USA and Canada are mentioned in the announcement; it remains unclear whether other world regions will be supplied at the same time, as is normally the case with Apple. A pre-order phase on Apple.com is scheduled to begin on May 3, which would be Friday of this week.
The Powerbeats Pro are currently listed with "soon available" on the company's website. As Beats had already announced in advance, the devices will initially only be available in the colour black, the other planned looks "ivory white", "navy blue" and "moss green" will only be available in summer. What this means for the available quantities is unclear - but the planned pre-order phase shows that Apple is expecting great demand.
Suitable for training
The Powerbeats Pro are not cheap. Apple charges 250 US dollars and 250 euros respectively for the devices. Optically they remind of the Powerbeats 3 Wireless, only the cable between the two receivers is missing. These can now be placed wirelessly. A bracket ensures that they remain in the ear; in addition, you can do sports with the Powerbeats Pro, according to Apple they are protected from sweat and water (the company does not call an IP rating, however).
The AirPods, on the other hand, are not yet officially intended for training, although many users use them for this purpose. Another difference of the Powerbeats Pro: Like the Powerbeats 3 Wireless and their predecessors, they insulate external sounds much more strongly than the AirPods.
