Project Mainline: These Android components can be updated via the Play Store in the future

Why your Android OS can’t be updated at first time?
Every month, Google ships Android security updates and distributes them directly to their own Pixel smartphones, while many other smartphone makers spend more time or do not deliver the updates completely or at all. But even the monthly update may not be sufficient in urgent cases. That's why you go one step further and want to be able to exchange important components at any time .
Which Android components can be updated via Project Mainline?
On the fringes of Google I / O, the Project Mainline, based on the successful Project Treble, will enable Google to easily share a dozen Android components or modules through the Play Store. Now the Android developers have released the full list of modules that will benefit from this innovation, keeping them up to date from Android Q onwards.
· Security: Media Codecs, Media Framework Components, DNS Resolvers, Conscrypt
· Privacy: Documents UI, Permission Controller, ExtServices
· Consistency: Timezone data, ANGLE (developers opt-in), Metadata modules, Networking components, Captive Portal login, Network Permission Configuration
According to the announcement alone, the media server combines a good 40 percent of all Android security vulnerabilities. Being able to update it directly now will make the entire ecosystem safer, no matter which smartphone the user owns. Since this will only work from Android Q, but you have to wait for the current numbers again two to three years, can be spoken of a significant improvement. Until then, the choice of possible modules should increase.
