Realme X2 Pro vs Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro: which is the best affordable high-end smartphones?

By  Goraud Mazanec 2019-10-19 10993 1

Xiaomi, I'm afraid you have company. A new player has just joined the affordable high-end game. The one that the Beijing seemed to be playing alone since in August 2018 launched the POCO F1, and in May this year gave a twist with the Redmi K20 Pro. Now, another Chinese firm intends to become Xiaomi's nightmare in this field, and the truth is that it could not have started on a better foot.

Realme X2 Pro vs Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro

It is, of course, Realme and its new Realme X2 Pro, a phone that seems to be difficult to put up against, mainly due to its price of 399 euros, lower than that of the Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro itself.

But how do these two beasts really differ from the cheapest top-of-the-range beasts on the market? It is clear that the fight between the two models will be a talking point, and that is why today we wanted to compare the two terminals to examine their similarities and differences.

I'd be lying if I said the differences between the two models are capital letters. In reality we are dealing with two devices that are quite similar in some aspects, but totally handsome in others.

Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro vs Realme X2 Pro: design

Beginning with the design, Xiaomi's model bets on a construction in glass and aluminum, exactly the same as Realme. However, while the Mi 9T Pro opts for a somewhat more "futuristic" format by dispensing with notch or any type of cutting on the screen through a motorized tab that hides the front camera, the X2 Pro resorts to a small notch in the shape of a drop.

Moreover, both integrate a Full HD Super AMOLED screen with integrated fingerprint reader, although the Realme model stands out for raising the refresh rate to 90 Hz, thus giving a greater feeling of smoothness when moving through the system interface.

Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro vs Realme X2 Pro: processor and performance

Both phones are brought to life by Qualcomm's most powerful platform: Snapdragon 855. However, Realme integrates the vitamin version, Snapdragon 855+, whose only difference from the original version is a slightly higher clock frequency, which in theory should offer better graphics performance. To the processor are added 6 GB of RAM in the Mi 9T Pro, and 6, 8 or 12 GB in its new rival.

There are also differences regarding the battery, not because of its capacity, because in both cases we have 4,000 mAh, but in terms of rapid charge technology. Xiaomi advocates a 27 W system, while Realme multiplies it by offering a 50 W system, one of the most powerful we have seen on a mobile to date. In addition to that, both brands bet on Android 9 with their respective layers of customization.

Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro vs Realme X2 Pro: camera

There's a lot to tell about the photographic section. Three cameras lead the back of the 48, 13 and 8 megapixel Mi 9T Pro, including a telephoto lens and a wide-angle lens. Realme, on the other hand, introduces one more sensor than Xiaomi, as well as increasing the resolution of the main camera. Thus, we are in front of a 64 megapixel camera, plus a 13 megapixel telephoto with hybrid zoom of up to 20 magnification, a wide angle of 8 megapixels and a last lens of 2 megapixels to capture images with portrait mode.

Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro vs Realme X2 Pro: price and how to choose

Both phones have a starting price of 399 euros. For this price, we get the 6 GB RAM edition and 64 GB storage of the Mi 9T Pro, or the configuration with exactly the same amounts of memory of the Realme X2 Pro.

However, in terms of overall specs and performance, the Realme X2 Pro is better than Xiaomi Mi 9T, especially in rear cameras, fast charging, 90Hz screen refresh rate and more powerful Snapdragon 855+ chip.
