RedmiBook 14 laptop design

RedmiBook 14 laptop design

In terms of appearance, RedmiBook 14 is 12.7 x 8.8 x 0.7 inches and the four corners adopt circular cutting technology, which is relatively traditional on the whole. All-metal integrated fuselage, using sandblasting anode process, the edges and corners have also been passivated, the weight of the whole device is 1.5kg, and the thickest part of the fuselage is 17.95mm.

The A side of RedmiBook 14 has only Redmi's LOGO and the phrase "DESIGNERBY XIAOMI", which is by far the simplest model. The notebook uses a narrow frame design, so that the 14-inch screen fuselage is smaller than the traditional 14-inch laptop, and thanks to the narrow frame design, the RedmiBook 14 screen accounts for 81.2%, the visual effect is good. The 14-inch display of the RedmiBook 14 is made of IPS and has a resolution of 1920*1080, fog surface treatment can effectively prevent glare. Through the Spyder5 test, it is found that the screen has 62% sRGB gamut and 48% AdobeRGB gamut.

The RedmiBook 14 is full-size keyboard, very comfortable, and the rebound is also very fast.

On the connectivity side, the RedmiBook 14’s interfaces are relatively perfect, the left side is power port, HDMI interface, two USB 3.0 interfaces, and the right side is a USB 2.0 interface and a 3.5mm headphone jack. Besides, the RedmiBook 14 has a 46W battery, and supports fast charging and can play up to 10 hours of video, seven hours of online video and 11 hours of standard web browsing.

RedmiBook 14 connectivity

The following figure shows the bottom of the RedmiBook 14, where you can see that RedmiBook 14 has designed the speakers on both sides of the bottom. RedmiBook 14 itself supports DST professional sound effects, which are better than ordinary notebooks.

Two highlights: Xiaomi smart unlock and 8th generations Intel Core i7

This time, RedmiBook 14 brought a technology - Modern Standby, this technology allows RedmiBook 14 ultra-low power standby and support Xiaomi intelligent unlock 2.0. To achieve this function, you only need to upgrade the Xiaomi bracelet to the latest firmware and bind the notebook. This method is basically unlocked in seconds, which is more practical.

In addition to this, the 8th generation of Intel Core i7 + independent graphics card has undoubtedly become the biggest bright spot f. RedmiBook 14 is equipped with the 8th generation of Intel Core enhanced processor i7 8565U, with a maximum frequency of 4.6 GHz, and a standalone graphics card called GeForce MX250.

The i7-8565U on the RedmiBook 14 uses the 14nm process, four-core eight-thread specification, and has a 6MB level III cache. The processor is the standard TDP, and the power consumption is limited to 15W. According to official data, the i7 8565U is an enhanced version of Intel's eighth generation Core processor. Compared with the 8th generation core processor, the maximum frequency rate of core processor has increased by 15%, and the performance has increased by 48% compared with the 7th generation. The performance is actually seen through GPU-Z testing. In the below, figure, the measured score of GPU-Z is 1569.5 for multiprocessor and 362.2 for single processor, which is still good.

From the test of CINEBENCH R15, it can be seen that RedmiBook 14 obtained the multi-core 534cb single-core 88.80cb score level. In general, i7-8565U played its due performance in the test of CINEBENCH R15.

As can be seen from the information screenshot of GPU-Z below, the RedmiBook 14 is equipped with a GeForce MX250 standalone graphics card, and the memory size is 2GB GDDR5. In the shaders section, we can see that the graphics card has 384 stream processors, a 64bit memory width, and a core frequency of 1582MHz. The official data shows that the performance of this independent graphics card has improved by 11% compared with the previous generation, but we still use 3DMark's test to tell the actual performance.

The benchmark score of 3DMark from the following figure is 1241, which is still an ideal score

Good gaming performance

Loaded with the eighth-generation Intel core i7 enhanced version and standalone graphics CARDS, here are《DOTA2》 and《CS:GO》 for testing.

《CS:GO》 45 frames

《DOTA2》 70 frames

The picture quality of both games is set to the highest, among which the number of frames of 《DOTA2》 is about 70, while that of 《CS:GO》 is about 45. During the game, both games are smooth and there is no lag phenomenon. Intel's i7-8565u +NV MX250 standalone graphics combination to deal with these two or similar games is OK, but if you want to play 3A games will be more difficult.

Conclusion

As Redmi's first laptop, powered by the eighth- Intel Core i78565U and equipped with a GeForce MX250 standalone graphics card, the RedmiBook 14 is really something to look forward to. Finally, let's talk about the price. There are three versions of RedmiBook 14: i5+256GB, i5+512GB and i7+512GB. The price is about $580, $625 and $725 respectively. The starting price of $580 makes the RedmiBook 14 performance-price ratio prominent, which has a certain impact on the market.
