Samsung announced two new USB PD controllers: support up to 100W fast charge
By Daniel Camilo 2019-05-30 387 0
Both the SE8A and MM101 have an embedded flash memory (eFlash) that provides the flexibility to modify firmware to meet the latest specifications and deliver up to 100W (20V/5A) of output power with overvoltage protection. The SE8A is the industry's first PD controller to embed a security unit, adding an additional layer of security to the PD controller. The MM101 supports product certification through the Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) and humidity sensing to ensure safer charging conditions. The SE8A and MM101 are compliant with the latest USB-PD 3.0 specification to address compatibility and efficiency issues between different devices. As more and more devices use USB interfaces for charging and data transmission, the demand for fast charging is increasing. Efficient and safe fast charging technology is expected to benefit consumers through a wide range of applications.
Ben K. Hur, senior vice president of Samsung Electronics, said that in addition to smarter features and larger batteries, innovative charging solutions allow us to do more with mobile devices today. Samsung's MM101 and SE8A not only bring faster, safer charging speeds, but also provide new services and enrich the future of the mobile experience.
Currently, MM101 is in the sample stage, and SE8A has started mass production.
