ECG function
First, the new Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2 smartwatch will be able to draw an ECG and will be preloaded with a dedicated ECG app. This feature allows users to track their heart rhythm through comfortable wrists and detect any possible symptoms of serious illness.
Fall detection
Second, the Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2 supports fall detection, which has been introduced on Apple Watch Series 4. Whenever the device detects that the wearer has fallen, it sends a notification on the screen and can automatically call emergency services or selected contacts for help. Several other smartwatch makers are also working on drop detection, including Mobvoi's TicWatch model line-up.
Atrial fibrillation monitor
Finally, Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2 supports atrial fibrillation monitoring, which is already available on Apple Watch Series 4. The device can monitor your heart activity and generate warnings.
But all three of these features require regulatory approval, and that's how, Apple Watch Series 4 came along. In other words, Samsung needs the consent of national regulators before it can launch the feature, so the timing of launch depends largely on the timing of approval.
