Samsung's Galaxy Watch Active 2, which will be launched this year, will come in three models, including the LTE version, the Bluetooth Only version and the Bluetooth version of the Under Armour brand.
All three sizes are 44 mm and 40 mm, the same size as the Apple Watch. The UA brand version will be equipped with an exclusive sports strap, as well as MapMyRun integration and six months of free service.
Although all models of the Active 2 will be compatible with Android and iPhone, the LTE feature is only available on Android phones, according to sources. It is not clear when iPhone integration will support this, but it is planned.
Earlier, it was reported that Samsung plans to install ECG (ECG) features on the Active 2. However, sources say Samsung is still awaiting FDA approval and expects formal approval sometime in the first half of 2020.
Samsung continues to give more features from a health and fitness perspective, with one source calling the new watch "between Galaxy Watch and Galaxy Watch Active." Samsung is currently using health and fitness as the main drivers of smartwatches, and although the Bixby and Samsung Pay will also appear in new products, the source added, they will only be used as assistive features.
Many of the health and fitness features of the first Galaxy Watch Active will also remain in Active 2, including sleep tracking, Samsung Health integration and device tutoring.
As for the design, the LTE model will be equipped with a stainless steel case and leather strap, with four color combinations: black dial and black strap; silver dial and black strap; gold case and brown strap; rose gold case and pink strap. However, the 40mm size watch will have an exclusive rose gold dial and pink strap.
Bluetooth models are made of aluminum alloy, with dark blue, silver and rose gold dial for users to choose from. Samsung Galaxy Active 2 will be announced at a company event in New York on Aug. 7 and will go public later this year.
