At the just held Qualcomm 4G/5G summit, a new mid-range processor, Snapdragon 675, which continues the strong performance of the Snapdragon 670, focuses on improving its performance in games, photos and AI, bringing down mobile game carton by 90%.
For the first time, the Snapdragon 675 also supports triple rear cameras shooting and time-unlimited slow motion shooting, and the AI performance is improved by 50% year-on-year. The Snapdragon 675, which also supports face recognition, QC4+ and aptX audio technologies, is expected to go on sale in the first quarter of 2019.
From the perspective of architecture, the CPU of Snapdragon 675 mobile platform is the fourth-generation Kryo 460, the eight-core maximum main frequency 2.0GHhz, and the process 11nm LPP. GPU is the sixth-generation Adreno 612, supporting Open GL ES3.2 and Vulkan standards; DSP adopts Hexagon 685, and the connection USES X12 modem with the maximum download rate of 600Mbps. It supports Qualcomm Spectra 250L ISP, up to 48 megapixel photos and up to 8GB LPDDR4x memory. It also supports Qualcomm quick charge QC4+, allowing the device to charge 50% of the battery in 15 minutes.
According to the technical specs, the Snapdragon 675 is not a huge change from the previous 670, but the high point of the Qualcomm is the power of the Snapdragon 675 in the game, photo, and the AI, which makes it particularly impressive in the current user scenario.
Hardware level optimization - greatly improve game fluency
Qualcomm says the Snapdragon 675 offers a smooth, high-frame-rate game experience, with 90 percent fewer catons than the Snapdragon 670, thanks to the platform's heterogeneity and collaboration with many game makers. Qualcomm has been optimized for multiple games, as well as game engines including Unity, Unreal, Messiah and NeoX. Qualcomm technologies also supports common tools and apis, including Vulkan, OpenGL 3.2, OpenCL and Snapdragon Profiler.
King of Glory technical director Deng Jun said the 675 could support King of Glory running at a frame rate of up to 60fps, using a kryo 460 that increased the game's startup speed by 30.
In the two demo machines shown by Qualcomm, it can be seen that the phones with the same processor, which have been optimized by the game engine and not optimized by the game engine, have a significant difference in the number of frames when running the king of glory. Among them, the optimized value is 11 and the unoptimized value of the card Jank is as high as 95.
Support triple cameras and 5X optical zoom
Thanks to the powerful functions of Qualcomm Spectra 200 series of isps, the Snapdrapon 675 also adds support for pre-/ post triple perturbation and five-fold optical zoom, combined with features such as telephoto, wide-angle and ultra-wide-angle image capture, three effects can be obtained at one time, with enhanced portrait mode (background to virtual), 3D face unlocking, and sophisticated self-portrait.
Plus, it allows the device to shoot 4K video and an unlimited 720P@480fps slow-motion video, which will be a selling point for the next generation of mid-range flagships. At the same time, you can use Snapdragon 675 platform to shoot 25 megapixel photos with 30 frames and 48 megapixels.
The performance of AI has been improved by 50%, and the multi-core artificial intelligence Engine, AI Engine, can improve the ability of mobile terminals to acquire information, and become the ultimate personal assistant by taking photos and video, learning and adapting to user voice, and optimizing battery life.
Using heterogeneous computing, Hexagon DSP, Adreno GPU and Kryo cpus aim to make end-to-end AI applications run faster and more efficiently by working together. Other AI scenarios supported by Snapdragon 675 include shooting (scene and object recognition, image style conversion, portrait lighting), security (face unlock, payment security), voice and translation. The platform is also supported by global independent software developers (ISV), including kuangshi technology Face++, netease, shangtang technology SenseTime, chintech and Trio AI.
For example, using Snapdragon 675, you can quickly transform a photo into a Van Gogh painting style. You can refill a face, and you can get a good picture in a less-than-ideal situation.
In addition to improvements in gaming, filming and AI experience, the Snapdragon 675 supports:
● Dsp-based security scheme provides excellent protection when unlocking the terminal through face recognition.
● Snapdragon X12 LTE modem supports up to 600Mbps downlink speed and triple carrier convergence.
● Qualcomm Quick Charge ™ 4 + can charge batteries from zero to 50% in 15 minutes.
● It supports Qualcomm ® Aqstic ™ and Qualcomm ® aptX audio ™ technology.
Currently, Snapdragon 675 mobile platform has been shipped, and the terminal product equipped with this processor will be launched in the first quarter of 2019. By then, we will see a number of mid-end mobile phones equipped with triple rear cameras and with strong AI performance and game performance, which is very promising.
