Sony Xperia 2: specifications and launch date
By Felicity Rosa 2019-05-24 800 0
The new numbering chosen by Sony leaves room for other smartphones that will occupy an intermediate position between Xperia 1 and Xperia 10/10 Plus. In addition to the mid-range model Xperia 4, the launch of the medium-high end model Xperia 2 is expected, of which the first rumors have leaked.
Sony Xperia 2 design: screen, battery
The Japanese manufacturer is slower than its competitors in adopting new designs, so it currently offers no devices with notches or holes in the screen. Even the Sony Xperia 2 should have fairly obvious frames and a screen with a 21: 9 aspect ratio. The unusual "remote control" shape allows you to view movies and other multimedia content in their original format, taking advantage of the huge viewing area and of course technologies similar to those available for Bravia TVs.
The new Xperia 2 should have a 6.2-inch screen (perhaps OLED) with full HD + resolution (2880 × 1234 pixels). It also includes a Snapdragon 855 core octa processor, 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage, expandable with microSD cards. This model will also have three rear cameras, but sensors and lenses of lower quality will almost certainly be chosen.
The battery should have a capacity of 3,000 mAh, therefore less than the 3,330 mAh of the top of the Xperia 1 range, but support for wireless charging is likely. This means that the cover will be in glass. There will be no 3.5mm audio jack instead. The operating system will certainly be Android 9 Pie.
Sony Xperia 2 release date
The Sony Xperia 2 could be announced in September during IFA 2019 in Berlin. Over the next few weeks more information on the smartphone will surely be disclosed. Obviously this will only be rumors that must be confirmed or denied by the Japanese manufacturer at the time of the official presentation.
