Apple delivers iPad mini (2019) and iPad Air (2019), Samsung Tab S5e and Tab A 10.5 (2019), Huawei enters the ring with Media Pad M6 models. COMPUTER BILD clarifies which Tablets will roll in 2019.
Longer days, better weather and people travelling without a thick jacket - yes, the warm season is slowly picking up speed. The tablet market is also getting hot: Apple presented two "new" tablets before the March event without much fanfare: iPad Air (2019) and iPad mini (2019) are intended to boost Apple's tablet business. But Android fans also have every reason to be happy: Samsung's new "Bread & Butter" tablet Galaxy Tab A 10.5 (2019) has even had COMPUTER BILD in practical testing. With the slim Galaxy S5e, the South Koreans are offering another top-class tablet: the 10-inch model boasts a chic aluminum design and a sharp Super AMOLED display. But when it comes to speed, more expensive devices like the Samsung Galaxy S4 or - even more so - the Apple iPad Pro 11 are ahead. Tablets are getting lighter, faster and slightly bigger, but real innovations are missing. After all, both Samsung and Android's fiercest competitor Huawei, with their foldable smartphones Galaxy Fold and Mate X, are building technical predators that could cannibalize the tablet market in a few years. One thing is already certain: the tablet spring is starting hot! COMPUTER BILD presents the tablet novelties of the year.
Huawei and Samsung tablets 2019: stalemate?
With the Galaxy Tab S4 in 2018, Samsung has conjured up a mad tablet out of its hat: with a 10.5-inch display including OLED colours, elegant design and strong hardware, the elegant tablet is high on the tablet list. The newcomers also belong to the 10-inch class, for example Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.5 (2019) and Samsung Galaxy Tab S5e. The former will retire the Galaxy Tab A 10.5 introduced in 2018. The weight has fallen by 12 percent from 525 to 460 grams, and Samsung also promises more thrust with the new Exynos 7904 mid-range processor. The Tab S5e offers an even higher speed than the Tab A 10.5 and a better Super AMOLED display - which Samsung will pay 419 Euro more for: The Tab A 10.5 in the entry-level version costs 210 Euro. It has become a little quieter around Huawei: After the success of the Huawei MediaPad M5 10 and its little brother Huawei M5 lite, the community is eagerly awaiting a worthy successor. However, it is not currently known when the MediaPad M6 series will be launched.
