Tesla pickup truck: price, specs, release date and features

"For five years I have had the main features of design and technology in my head," twittered Tesla boss Elon Musk at the end of 2017 to a possible electric Tesla pick-up. "I'm dying to build it." The production of the pick-up will start immediately after Model Y (2019) - Model Y is a compact SUV located below Model X. The SUV is a compact SUV, which is a compact SUV. The Tesla E-Pickup will be introduced in the course of 2019 (carwow has already drawn a possible Tesla pickup), which Musk has announced via Twitter. Series production is not expected before 2020.
Ford F-150 in sight
The Tesla pick-up is said to be slightly larger than a current Ford F-150. The F-150 has been one of the best-selling cars in the USA for decades. Musk justifies the slightly larger dimensions of his Tesla with a "groundbreaking feature" that he would "like to add to the pick-up". Marketing professional Elon Musk has not yet revealed which characteristic this could be. Since the purely electric drive is set, it must be something else. In the case of the two semi-truck variants already presented, Tesla is introducing a particularly stable windscreen - after all, semi-trucks in the USA are not allowed to continue their journey as soon as their windscreen is even minimally damaged.
Base price of less than 50,000 dollars
It remains to be seen whether Tesla will be able to capture the American manufacturers Ford, FCA and GM, which are extremely well positioned in this field, with an electric pick-up. After all, the pick-up customer lurks in the open rather than on the progressive US coastal strip. And in rural areas, the customer base has been quite conservative so far, appreciates high-capacity combustion engines, a long range, simple, robust technology that is also very affordable. Pick-ups in the USA are among the vehicles with the best price-performance ratio. However, Tesla's core competencies are not exactly proven, rather simple technology and a low price. Musk has now explained in an interview how he imagines the pricing of the pick-up, presumably christened Model P. The price of the pick-up is also a good one. The starting price must be less than 50,000 dollars for the basic version. As with the other Tesla models, there will also be more potent versions with a greater range, which will then become correspondingly more expensive.
The Model P will feature a dual-engine drivetrain, adaptive suspension and ranges between 640 and 800 kilometers. The possible trailer load should also be remarkable - an important criterion for pick-ups on the US market.
As part of the product launch of two truck variants and the new Roadster (yes, that's the name, despite the Targa roof and two emergency seats in the rear), Tesla already showed a sketch of the planned pick-up in November 2017. The shape of the body is reminiscent of the large tractor, which at Tesla has so far only been known under the generic name "Semi Truck". Semi Truck is the acronym for "Semi Trailer Truck" - trucks that tow trailers without their own front axle. In terms of design, the Tesla P Pick-up Model P should also be more futuristic than its competitors, but beat them in terms of functionality.
Shouldering the previous bestseller
The Ford F-150 parked on the loading area of the Tesla pickup should not only show the approximate size of the Tesla, but of course also the claim of the brand: You want to load the US bestseller yourself.
