The future Samsung Galaxy Watch Active can measure body fat composition

In recent years, the wearable device market has been actively developed, but there is still full potential, and manufacturers are not only focused on the device ontology, but ready to make a fuss on accessories.
For example, it has been reported that Apple has a new patent and that a camera may be installed on the Apple Watch strap in the future. Samsung recently revealed that it is about to use a strap to measure body fat composition.
Samsung filed a patent in 2015 that shows it is developing a new feature called Body Composition for its next generation of Galaxy Watch and Galaxy Watch Active models, according to the latest news from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. This means that users can measure the percentage of body fat when using the wearable device.
Samsung patent content
As can be seen from the patent content, several electrodes on the strap are the key link, and the wearer uses the skin contact electrode to measure the percentage of fat. In measurement, bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA),) can be achieved by placing only two fingers. The principle of bioelectrical impedance analysis is to calculate the ratio of fat to water by using low power AC current and to analyze the resistance between adipose tissue and non-adipose tissue.
So far, there is no such small device on the market to measure body composition through BIA, and Samsung's patent would be a great breakthrough!
