Vivo X27 vs. Vivo X27 Pro vs. Vivo V15 Pro: design
All of the three phones we will be looking at today are different in a variety of ways. But there is one thing they all have in common: pop-up cameras. Ever since the Vivo NEX, Vivo have been unable to let go of the idea of a full screen phone — and, thus, we have three new phones with pop-up cameras. Though powered by mid-range processors, the phones’ design and other specifications are closer to premium.
As mentioned right above, all the phones feature full screen displays with their selfie cams having been moved into a little pop-up panel. The Vivo X27 Pro comes with the largest display of all the three devices: the phone sports an impressive 6.7 inch screen while both the Vivo X27 and the Vivo V15 Pro comes with 6.39 inch displays.

Display
As we’ve already mentioned, all the three phones come with full view displays. Out of the three, the Vivo X27 Pro comes with the biggest 6.7 inch screen with an impressive 92.12% screen-to-body ratio and 20.5:9 aspect ratio. The Vivo X27 sports a slightly smaller 6.39 inch screen with 1080 x 2340 resolution. On the Vivo V15 Pro, you also get a 6.39 inch screen with 1080 x 2316 resolution and a 84.2% screen-to-body ratio.
CPU
The Vivo V15 Pro comes with the mid-range Snapdragon 675 processor, which, in fact, debuted on this phone’s model. Both the Vivo X27 and the Vivo X27 Pro run on the Snapdragon 710, which is marketed as a more high-end CPU option. When it comes to everyday use, however, there is not much difference between the two processors. But let’s take a look at the numbers just in case.
Snapdragon 675 | Snapdragon 710
Clock speed | Up to 2.0GHz | Up to 2.2GHz |
Cores | 8 Kryo 460 cores | 8 Kryo 360 cores |
CPU architecture | 64-bit, 11nm | 64-bit, 10nm |
GPU | Adreno 612 | Adreno 616 |
Quick Charge support | Quick Charge 4+ | Quick Charge 4 |
RAM + ROM
The Vivo V15 Pro gives you two options when it comes to RAM: you can choose between 6GB and 8GB; as for internal storage, there is 128GB onboard, which you can expand to up to 256GB on a micro SD card.
Both the Vivo X27 and the Vivo X27 Pro come with 8GB of RAM. The phone’s Pro version pairs that with 256GB of internal storage, while the basic X27 gives you a choice between that and 128GB of storage.
Battery
On the battery side, both X27 phones sport 4000mAh paired with Vivo’s own FlashCharge 22.5W fast-charging technology. The Vivo 15 Pro comes with a smaller 3700 mAh battery and also supports fast 18W charging that promises to get the phone to 24% in 15 minutes.
Cameras
We’ve saved the most interesting bit for last. Let’s be honest, one of the key reasons you may be reading a review of three pop-up camera phones is because you are on the market for exactly that: a pop-up camera phone. There are definitely a number of benefits to this design including a full screen mobile experience. There are several drawbacks as well: one of the main concerns regarding this design is the pop-up mechanism itself that may be quite fragile with a lot of users wondering if it will survive a drop or a bump.
But, for now, we shall leave this debate behind and see what each phone offers when it comes to photography.
The Vivo X27 and the Vivo X27 Pro come with the same camera setup on the back: there is a triple camera with a 48MP f/1.79 Sony IMX586 primary sensor, a 13MP wide-angle lens and a 5MP depth-sensing lens. There are plenty of camera software features to back that up like a 2.5cm super macro mode, a super backlight mode, super night scene mode, a beauty mode, etc. An interesting addition are the so-called “celebrity filters”, which include a filter designed by the Chinese model Liu Wen.
On the front, the Vivo X27 comes with a 16MP pop-up selfie camera and the Pro version sports a 32MP selfie shooter. According to Vivo, the phones’ front cameras slide out in just 0.68s — the process in complemented with colorful light strips flanking it on each side. You will be able to customize the LED lights and get a choice of six colors.
The Vivo V15 Pro also sports a 32MP selfie shooter. The front-facing pop-up camera has f/2.0 aperture and comes with autofocus. There are plenty of beautifying features onboard and it will brighten up your skin tone by default. This makes the cam a good choice for a quick social media post — but it won’t be easy to get a natural looking photo with the front cam.
On the back, the Vivo V15 Pro also boasts three cameras: an 8MP wide-angle sensor with f/2.2 aperture, 5MP depth sensor with f/2.4 aperture and a 48MP Quad Pixel sensor with f/1.8 aperture.
Vivo X27 vs. Vivo X27 Pro vs. Vivo V15 Pro: release date and price
The Vivo X27, the Vivo X27 Pro and the Vivo V15 Pro were released in mid-March. As for the prices:
Vivo X27 | Vivo X27 Pro | Vivo V15 Pro
Price | From $536 | From $595 | From $346 |
As you can see, the Vivo X27 Pro is the priciest of the three and this is backed up by a larger screen and more internal storage. The cheapest option would be the Vivo V15 Pro but you would have to do with a smaller battery. Then again, you do get the Snapdragon 675 processor onboard as well as a 32MP selfie shooter.
If you are curious about pop-up camera phones, we suggest you start with the least expensive version and see how you like the design in use. Once you’ve confirmed that this is exactly what you’ve been looking for, check out the Vivo X27 Pro.
