WWDC19: No, Apple will not kill iTunes

By  Julio Ventura 2019-06-05 148 0

iTunes is an important part of the global mobile story, and that the legendary Apple software has been responsible for ordering music libraries, movies and podcasts of many worldwide, as well as being the place where they support and organize their devices like iPod, iPad and iPhone, for those who do not trust "the cloud".

From different media it has been reported that this Monday, at the beginning of Apple's WWDC developer conference, one of the most drastic actions of the company will be to "kill" iTunes.

The latter has caused panic in those who have been curating their collection for more than a decade and organizing their archives through this program. Tranquility, nobody is going to take that away from you.

According to the latest reports, the reality is that Apple will separate iTunes in three. In this way there will be two different applications under the project Marzipan (which makes the iPad applications are the same in MacOS) dedicated to Podcast and Apple TV, the latter being the manager of your movies, rentals, series and the next streaming service Apple TV +.

Now, there will be an application called Music that will have everything you want (or maybe you hate) from iTunes, where Apple Music and your iOS device backups will be hosted. In short, they took away the weight of the legendary program and changed the name to one more in line with its new functions and services offered by Apple.

Obviously this is based on rumors (albeit from fairly reliable sources) and everything could change tomorrow, but we signed that we have almost absolute certainty in the information delivered.
