Xiaomi 6X vs. Xiaomi Redmi Note 5: design
As it often is with Xiaomi phones, at the first glance, the two models do look quite similar in design. But take a closer look and the differences pop up.
The Mi 6X does sport a more polished and "premium" look than the Redmi Note 5 — primarily thanks to the curved back and the U shaped antenna lines. The Mi 6X is also significantly thinner and lighter and is also available in the trendy red color (think iPhone 8). The Redmi Note 5, on the other hand, comes with a more "traditional" look — in line with other phones from the Note series.
There are two important functional differences in the design.
One is the 3.5mm headphone jack. The Redmi Note 5 has it, the Mi 6X doesn't. The other is that the Mi 6X comes with a USB-C port while the Redmi Note 5 features a "classic" micro-USB port.

Both phones come with exactly the same types of display. You get a large 5.99 inch FHD + screens with 18:9 ratio. They are both decent platforms for enjoying your media, games, browsing the web and more.
Here we have the Snapdragon 660 going up against the Snapdragon 636.
The Snapdragon 660 is, at this moment, the highest performing processor in
Qualcomm's mid-tier range with major improvements having been made in the fields of energy efficiency, heat control and overall performance.
Other highlights are the the Kryo 260 core, giving an additional boost to the CPU power and the Adreno 512 GPU letting the processor support some of the latest graphics APIs such as the Vulkan API.
While the Snapdragon 636 does sport most of the same characteristics, however instead of being clocked at 2.2 GHz, it runs at 1.8Ghz. Plus, with the upgrade in the graphics department, the Snapdragon 660 is a more gamer-friendly platform.
There are no drastic differences in storage capacity — you can choose between different combination options and expand storage further with an SD card on the Redmi Note 5.
The Xiaomi 6X comes with a stronger camera combo than the Redmi Note 5. You get 12MP + 20MP for the rear cam and an impressive 20MP selfie shooter compared to the 12MP + 5MP set on the back and a 13MP front cam on the Redmi Note 5.
Tthe Redmi Note 5 does come with a larger battery (4,000mAh) but you will probably be getting a very similar usage time when taking into account the more energy-efficient processor on the 6X.
one cool thing you will be getting with the 6X that is yet unavailable on the Redmi Note 5 is XiaoAi, Xiaomi's dedicated voice assistant ready to take on Siri and Cortana.

Xiaomi 6X vs. Xiaomi Redmi Note 5: wrapping things up
While comparing specs and functionality is kind of a hobby of ours, when it comes to the purchase decision, price is the decisive factor for most of us. But in case of these two, things get very interesting. Xiaomi have priced their new flagship very moderately — and very close to the Redmi Note 5 series. The Redmi Note 5 (4GB RAM + 64GB ROM) is priced at about $269.99, while the Xiaomi Mi 6X with the same configurations will be available for $253 while the 6GB + 64GB model will feature a price tag of $284.
With the very small difference in price, the Xiaomi Mi 6X does look like a very attractive option to consider: whether you are on the market for a new phone or considering an upgrade.
