Xiaomi Mi Band 4 vs Xiaomi Mi Band 3: design

The overall design of the watch hasn't changed drastically compared to the Mi Band 3.With that, the Mi Band 4 does come with a larger 0. 95 inch display – this is 39.9% larger than the Mi Band 3 as well as any previous editions on the Mi Band. The best thing about the display is that it’s also the first color screen with 16,000 color pixels — and this definitely adds to the experience.

The screen is protected by a curved glass cover and features 50m waterproof protection.

Xiaomi Mi Band 4 vs Xiaomi Mi Band 3: features

The Mi Band 4 is a sporty smartwatch just like the Mi Band 3 — and this means that you will find most of the same functionality. The new watch comes with lots of tracking features including:

Xiaomi Mi Band 4

Heart rate monitoring: lets you keep a digital hand on your pulse as you workout and see how the intensity of your training affects your heart.

Distance log and pedometer: see how much distance you’ve covered and how many steps you’ve taken.

Sleep tracking: after an intense training session, you will need some good rest. The Mi Band 4 will track you sleeping patterns and give advice on how to improve your sleep.

Calories burnt: you will know exactly how many calories you’ve burnt from workout to workout and day to day.

Swimming mode: the watch is equipped with a 6-axis high precision sensor, is 50m waterproof and can track your pool workouts as well as land ones.

Phone features: just as the Mi Band 3, the Mi Band 4 will connect to your phone via Bluetooth (Bluetooth 5.0), which enables further functionality like call and message reminders, call pick up and hang up, etc.

With that, there are quite a few features new to the Mi Band 4. Namely:

Smart assistant voice control: the Mi Band 4 can be controlled by Xiaomi’s Xiao Ai, which is a really nice feature to have onboard and a needed upgrade compared to the previous models.

NFC: the Mi Band 4 comes in two editions, with NFC and without. Naturally, the model with the NFC options brings more to the table in the form of mobile payments and other functionality.

Xiaomi Mi Band 4 vs Xiaomi Mi Band 3: battery life

The Mi Band 3 featured a 110mAh battery. The Mi Band 4, on the other hand, gives you two battery options, both bigger. As we’ve mentioned earlier, the Mi Band 4 is available in two versions: the non-NFC model comes with a 125 mAh battery while the NFC edition sports a slightly bigger battery to support the feature — 135 mAh. Despite the larger battery, the Mi Band 4 offers similar battery performance to the Mi Band 3 because of the new mode’s color display, which needs more juice.

Xiaomi Mi Band 4 vs Xiaomi Mi Band 3: the verdict

The Mi Band 4 comes with a small price increase over the Mi Band 3 — but, as we see it, it’s more than reasonable for the new features you get to have onboard. The Mi Band 4 went officially on sale on June 11 and our verdict is that it’s well worth an upgrade.
