Xiaomi Mijia projector lite (youth edition): Xiaomi's smallest projector
The Mi Home Lite is one of the smaller projector models measuring just about 6 inches in height and weighing 1.3kg. The design is an absolute Xiaomi classic made in clear white with a subtle speaker grill on one side, a vent opening on the back and a dark grey panel housing the lens on the front.
Under the cooling grill, you will find a 3.5mm headphone jack, USB 3.0 and HDMI interface. As for the controls, there is only on/off button on the device. You will find the rest of the navigation options on the dedicated remote control — plus, as with most Xiaomi products, there is the option of using the Mijia app.
All in all, it's a very nice looking gadget that would make a stylish addition to any living room or office. With that, it's not intrusive and will blend in with any interior.
The negatives? The projector's miniature size does limit its functionality. It's definitely a strong device when it comes to portability and you can easily bring it to a meeting or take on a picnic — but don't expect a first-class movie experience.
Xiaomi Mijia projector lite (youth edition): what's on the inside?
Feature-wise, the Mi Home Projector Lite decent for its size. As we've mentioned above, you won't be getting a cinema-like experience. But you will definitely be able to watch a movie, play a game or showcase your presentation — and these are pretty much the essentials we would expect from a portable projector.
It comes with a 500 ANSI lumens lamp, which is more than most other similar devices in this price range (that come with 300 lumens lamps) — but still not enough for a movie on a brightly lit day.
The Mi Home Projector is capable of 1080p resolution and supports HDR10 and is capable of projecting from a 40-inch screen size up to 200 inches with the aspect ratio of a 1.2:1.
Xiaomi also state that the LED lamp featured on the Mi Home Projector can last for up to 30,000 hours. There mini projector comes with integrated speakers supporting Dolby Atmos and DTS.
Thanks to the USB 3.0 and HDMI ports, the projector is pretty well connected and you will have options when it comes to hooking up peripherals.
On the software side, the Mi Home Projector Lite runs on the pre-installed MIUI TV providing you with an interface for streaming shows and movies. You can also set up AI voice control via the Mijia Home app.
Xiaomi Mijia projector lite (youth edition): should you get one?
So, let's run through the highlights of the projector in short:
● It's very portable at just 6 inches in height
● It projects 1080p videos and supports HDR10
● There are 500 Lumens onboard
● There is good connectivity with USB 3.0 and HDMI
● Lamp life is an impressive 30,000 hours
The Xiaomi Mijia projector lite is a great product for what it is: a stylish portable projector that handles the essentials really well. Plus, you get the options for controlling the device via an app and the AI voice function. Unfortunately, the projector is currently only available via a crowdfunding platform and the sales are limited to China. This also implies that there is probably no international version and the interface and manuals are in Chinese.
With that, we have high hopes for the Mijia projector lite and Xiaomi's signature value for money offer — especially of there is a global version in the works.
