Design
Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus: 5.99 inch and 18:9 FHD screen; 2160 x 1080 pixels resolution; 403ppi; optional color (3): golden, black, light blue, rose gold.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 4X: 5.5 inch FHD screen; 1920 x 1080 pixels resolution; 401ppi; optional color (5): black, blue green, champagne gold, gray, pink.
In terms of design, the major difference between the two smartphones is the screen. The Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus comes with the very latest 18:9 display, a 5.99 inch FHD touch screen, a resolution of 2160 x 1080 pixels at a 403 ppi and round screen corners. While the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4X has a traditional Xiaomi style 5.5 inch FHD screen, a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels at a 401 ppi and, in general, looks quite similar to its predecessor the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4.
As for the color, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4X gives you more choice: you will have 5 color options compared to the 3 on the Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus.
Other than the above, both phones have similar thickness and weight. And there is a fingerprint sensor and a single camera on the back.
Processor & Memory
Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus: Snapdragon 625 Octa Core 2.0GHz, 3GB RAM & 32GB ROM, or 4GB RAM & 64GB ROM.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 4X: Snapdragon 625 Octa Core 2.0GHz, 3GB RAM & 16GB ROM, or 3GB RAM & 32GB ROM, or 4GB RAM & 64GB ROM.
As we can see, there is no big difference between the two smartphones in overall performance. Both the Redmi 5 Plus and the Redmi Note 4X run on Octa Core Snapdragon 625 at 2.0GHz.
Snapdragon 625 is an outstanding processor adopting the latest 14nm process technology. Compared with the previous generation — Snapdragon 617 — the power consumption has been reduced by 35%.
With the excellent CPU performance, you can freely play games or watch videos smoothly. And with the optional memory provided, you can choose a right memory type for yourself.
Camera
Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus: 5.0MP front camera and 12.0MP rear camera; double color temperature LED flashlight; camera aperture: f/2.2; support PDAF (Phase Detection Auto Focus).
Xiaomi Redmi Note 4X: 5MP front camera and 13.0MP rear camera; LED flashlight; camera aperture: f/2.0; support PDAF (Phase Detection Auto Focus).
You can see from the above that the Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus has a better camera performance than the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4X. Although the newly launched Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus comes with 12.0MP rear camera, it has double color temperature LED flashlight and the large camera aperture - f/2.2. These advanced features make the camera perform better in the dark conditions and when shooting portraits.
Except that, both the Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus and the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4X have a 5.0MP front camera and support PDAF, which are great features to have in a phone camera.
Battery
Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus: 4000mAh(typ)/ 3900mAh(min)built-in
Xiaomi Redmi Note 4X: 4100mAh built-in
The Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus is equipped with a 4000mAh(typ)or a 3900mAh(min) built-in battery, which is smaller than the massive 4100 mAh battery capacity on te Xiaomi Redmi Note 4X. Coupled with the bigger screen, the Xiaomi Redmi 5 plus will surely be more power-consuming than the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4X.
