The Xiaomi Redmi 4 comes with the Snapdragon 430 Octa Core Max processor clocking at 1.4GHz - a great setup for multitasking and smooth everyday operation. As one would expect, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 takes multitasking to a higher level with its Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 Octa core Cortex A53 64 bit processor clocking at 2GHz.

When it comes to RAM and internal storage space, the Redmi Note 4 features 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage compared to the Xiaomi Redmi 4 with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. In general, Redmi Note 4 has a larger memory. While both have a further expandable external memory up to 128GB.

When it comes to camera features, both Xiaomi phones come with Face detection, Smile detection, Geo tagging, Panorama and Touch to focus.

Both smartphones come with fingerprint sensors located at the back - for easy unlocking, data safety and additional features. In addition to the fingerprint sensor, both mobile phones come with Light sensor, Proximity sensor, Accelerometer, Compass and a Gyroscope.

Both phones come with the 4100mAh non-removable battery thus offering the same battery life. However, with the Note's bigger screen and a more powerful multitasking base, you may be running out of battery a bit faster.

When it comes to design, the Redmi Note 4 has a metal body with slight curves on the back and glossy plastic on the front. The Redmi 4 comes with a similar overall design, but is slightly "flatter" than the Note 4's frame with rounded edges. The Redmi 4 is also smaller than the Note 4 - and thus is more convenient for single handed usage.


Connectivity & OS

Both the Redmi 4 and the Redmi Note 4 come with 4G support and dual SIM cards. Both models come with Android 6.0 - but with the Redmi Note 4 you will have the option of upgrading to Android 7.0. The smartphones come with the custom MiUI user interface: MIUI 8 for Redmi 4 and MIUI 8.1 for the Note 4.


The Verdict

The model you go for basically comes down to one and the same question: what are you looking for? Not exactly the bigger is better. If you are searching for a compact smartphone for standard everyday use, then the Redmi 4 does the job perfectly. The Redmi Note 4, on the other hand, will be a better choice for those who prefer large screen phablets with enhanced multimedia capabilities.
