Design and canvas
Mobile phones look similar except for notch: while in Redmi Note 6 Pro the cutout is wider, similar to that of iPhone X, in Redmi Note 7 it is more discreet, with drop format.
Screen size differences are minimal from one generation to the next: while the Redmi Note 6 Pro is 6.26 inches long, the Redmi Note 7 is 6.3 inches long. The resolution is Full HD+ in both cases.
The Redmi Note 7 promises improved photo quality over the Redmi Note 6 Pro thanks to a new 48-megapixel camera (f/1.8 aperture) on the back. This is the Sony IMX586 sensor, the same as the Zenfone 6 and the OnePlus 7 Pro, capable of delivering images with a high level of detail. In addition, the phone features a 5-megapixel auxiliary camera to capture depth of field in Portrait Mode. The Note 6 Pro set is more modest: the dual camera has 12 and 5 megapixel sensors.
On the other hand, the Redmi Note 6 offers more flexibility for selfies by featuring a 20-megapixel dual front camera and 2 megapixel camera. Xiaomi's release features a single sensor on the front, with 13 megapixels of resolution.
Performance and storage
The Redmi Note 6 Pro features a Snapdragon 636 processor (octa-core at speeds up to 1.8 GHz), less powerful than the Snapdragon 660 chip (octa-core up to 2 GHz) in Redmi Note 7. The trend is for this difference to be reflected primarily in running heavier applications, such as photo and video editing, as well as games with more advanced graphics.
RAM and storage are similar in both cases: 4GB and 64GB.
The Redmi Note 7 battery comes with the same 4,000 mAh capacity as the Redmi Note 6 Pro. The component is expected to be sufficient for a full day's use in both cases.
Xiaomi releases Redmi Note 7 with Android 9 (Pie), the latest version of Google's system and one ahead of Android 8 (Oreo) that comes pre-installed in Redmi Note 6 Pro. Both run the MIUI interface.
Xiaomi's cell phones marked the return of the Chinese brand to Brazil. The Redmi Note 6 Pro is a March 2019 release whose price is saltier: R$ 1,999. The successor Redmi Note 7 landed in May 2019, costing R$ 1,699.
