Xiaomi Smart Robot Vacuum Cleaner - Normal Version ($299.99)
The standard version of the Xiaomi Mi Robot Vacuum is one of the most popular smart cleaning gadgets thanks to a nice set of features and a reasonable price.
Design
Unlike a large number of Chinese vaсuum cleaners, the Xiaomi Smart Vacuum Cleaner features a very minimalistic design — it's simple, sleek, and is made in classic white.
On the top, you will only find the main controls: ON and HOME buttons. Thanks to the slim design, the robot vacuum can easily get into narrow areas and efficiently clean under furniture.
Functionality & operation
One of the main highlights of the model is that it comes with 12 different sensors — yep, the Xiaomi Mi Robot Vacuum is a very intelligent device. The main sensor is the Laser Distance Sensor, which scans the area, and, with the help of the Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM) algorithm, forms a virtual map of the interior and memorizes the layout for for efficient navigation.
The vacuum comes with three processors, which track the robot's movements in real time and is equipped with a powerful Nidec brushless DC motor capable of 1,800Pa of suction power. The main brush features an adjustable height and the 5200mAh Li-ion battery ensures 2.5 hours of effective cleaning.
Even though the Xiaomi Mi Robot does not come with a remote control, you will be able to easily navigate the device via the Mi Home App. The smart vacuum cleaner will stay within 10mm off your wall and clean the edges with a side brush.
Verdict:Pros: long run time (thanks to the 5,200mAh battery), WiFi app control (you can even control the vacuum from outside your home and track its movements), efficient cleaning pattern (thanks to the 12 sensors) and HEPA filtration (a powerful air filter ridding your home of allergens and harmful substances). Cons: the lack of extra accessories (no extra filters, brushes, etc.) and English user manual (though the operation is pretty straight-forward). |
Xiaomi Smart Robot Vacuum Cleaner - Upgraded Version ($559.99)
The first thing that jumps off the screen when you see the Upgraded Version of the Xiaomi Mi Robot Vacuum Cleaner is the significantly increased price. What improvements are responsible for the higher price tag? Read on.
Design
Not too many changes have been made in the design — but you will see a slight difference in the controls on top. The vacuum cleaner also comes with a detachable water tank for mopping.
Functionality & operation
First, the upgraded version features a 2-in-1 Sweep & Mop mode. This means that the generation 2 Xiaomi Vacuum Cleaner is capable of double cleaning: first sweeping and then mopping. This ensures an even more effective cleaning process ridding your home not only of debris but also mopping away all the dust.
Another upgrade is the root-inspired filter, which is responsible for water flow control and is capable of non-stop mopping for up to 60 minutes.
The suction power has been improved from 1800pa to 2000pa and the vacuum can climb up to 2cm.
A lot of improvements have been made in Intelligent Route Planning thanks to stronger sensors. The robot is also more efficient at edge cleaning, which is followed by Z-shaped cleaning (according to the area).
The battery capacity has remained the same: 5200mAh offering 2.5 hours of non-stop cleaning. Remote control is still done via the dedicated app, which has been upgraded with Customized Cleaning Areas feature.
Thanks to the powerful vacuum system, the new Xiaomi Mi Smart Vacuum Upgraded Version efficiently picks up debris, dust and other waste making it possible to walk around the home barefoot.
Verdict:Pros: 2-in-1 sweep and mop feature, increased suction power, better navigation and sensors, root-inspired filter. Cons: mostly the same as with the earlier model: no extras and English user manual. |
Xiaomi Smart Robot Vacuum Cleaner - International Version ($599.99)
Finally, we have the international version of the smart vacuum cleaner. It has the functionality of the upgraded version: 2-in-1 mop & sweep, 12 improved sensors, advanced localization and mapping, large capacity battery and more.
Key differences between the international version and other versions:
1. EU plug (all other versions come with a CN-type plug), so you can start using the vacuum cleaner right away without any adapters;
2. English user manual (other versions are without user manual, even though, as mentioned earlier, the operation is quite easy);
3. The smart vacuum is CE certified — the device is officially recognized as conforming with health, safety, and environmental standards requires in the European Economic Area (EEA).
