Zenfone 5 vs. Zenfone 6: what is the differences between these two Asus smartphones
By Steve Lowry 2019-06-10 1828 0
Zenfone 6 is the new cell phone of Asus. Announced in May 2019, Zenfone 5's successor calls attention for the absence of the notch and flip camera, which houses two 48 and 13 megapixel sensors. In addition, the smartphone has an advanced technical data sheet, a Snapdragon 855 processor and up to 8 GB of RAM. Check out the main differences between generations below.
Screen and Design
Unlike its predecessor, which caught the public's attention because of the notch similar to iPhone X, Zenfone 6 has virtually no edges around the screen. Similarly, there is no front camera, since the rear set is retractable and can be used for selfies, too.
Zenfone 6 has a slightly larger screen than the previous generation, from 6.4 inches to 6.2 inches of Zenfone 5. In both cases, the resolution is Full HD+, specification that should deliver good quality in both cases.
Camera
One of the great highlights of the launch is the camera. There are two 48 and 13 megapixel sensors in a mobile compartment in the shape of a flip, which allows the use of the set both in the back and for selfies.
The dual camera is also present in Zenfone 5. The set, consisting of two sensors of 12 and 8 megapixels, drew attention during the tests of TechTudo, thanks to the sharpness and colors faithful to reality. For selfies, are 8 MP.
Performance
The new generation comes to the market with advanced technical data sheets, unlike Zenfone 5. Specifications include Qualcomm's most advanced Snapdragon 855 processor and 6GB or 8GB RAM. In practice, Zenfone 6 tends to deliver good performance in even the heaviest games and apps.
Zenfone 5 has intermediate specifications, including Snapdragon 636 and 4GB RAM. In tests conducted in August 2018, the mobile phone proved to be fast even with games.
In 2018, Asus also announced a more advanced variant, the Zenfone 5Z. With the same look and cameras, the phone has the Snapdragon 845 processor, the same as the Galaxy S9 and LG G7, and options with RAM up to 8 GB.
For storage, 64GB and 128GB options are present. Zenfone 6, however, is the only one with a 256 GB edition. Both phones support microSD card.
Battery
Another point that draws attention at the launch is the battery, 5,000 mAh. According to Asus, the component is sufficient for 21 hours of Internet access via Wi-Fi.
With a battery of 3,300 mAh, autonomy is one of the highlights of Zenfone 5 in the analysis of TechTudo, since it exceeded the mark of one day of use with ease. Both smartphones have support for fast charging systems.
A and extra features
Both Zenfone 5 and Zenfone 6 already have Android 9 (Pie) available. Both also bring the manufacturer's modified interface, also with their own features and apps.
Another point in common is the fingerprint reader, positioned at the back in both cases.
Price
Presented in May 2019, Zenfone 6 is not expected to be launched in Brazil. Abroad, the cell phone can be found with prices from 499 euros abroad, about R$ 2,245 in direct conversion.
Zenfone 5 is a August 2018 cell phone, announced with the suggested price of R$ 2,199 (64 GB) and R$ 2,499 (128 GB). Currently, both editions can be found around R$ 1,488 and R$ 1,750, respectively, in e-commerce.
