The Mech Mod Quick Intro
Earlier-gen mechanical mods lacked many of today's protection measures and safeguards, based on rudimentary designs. Output power was supplied via constant voltage from the battery: the corresponding power was obtained by changing the specific coil resistance of the atomizer to provide the wanted vapor and flavor. These early models were very much a nascent novelty, more of a curiosity in a still untested market.
With the rapid development of e-cigarette industry, mechanical mods eventually gravitated toward the inclusion of chips, forever transforming the vaping experience. Apart from adding basic protection measures, stable voltage delivered enhanced security and safety paving the way for today's half mech mods. This allowed vapers to enjoy powerful, high impact (violent) vape hits safely and consistently.

DOVPO M VV Mech Mod Packaging
The DOVPO MVV comes housed in standard-sized packaging measuring 4.56 x 2.93 x 1.26 inches (115.7 x 74.5 x 32.2mm). The upper part is jet black, bearing the model name "M VV" in bold red lettering, while the bottom part is a striking red, complete with warnings, icons, website information, and a security code.
Looking inside the box, we find the M VV host itself, a bi-lingual manual (English and Chinese), and a Setup card. We really appreciated the handy, awesome card – it displayed atomizer resistance, the corresponding settings (for equivalent wattage) and the maximum wattage (more about this later). We only wished more manufacturers provided this type of reference card.
Excellent Craftsmanship & Violent Power Output
The DOVPO mod measured 3.58 x 2.04 x 0.94 inches (91 x 52 x 24mm), which is similar to a typical dual 18650 battery box mod. You can fit atomizers up to 0.94 inches (24mm) without any overhang. And weighing just 6.62oz (188g), the mod is both a well-balanced and portable solution.
The body material is an undeniably premium feeling Zinc Alloy, coated using a special stoving varnish process to create its head-turning crack pattern. An eye-defying matte texture meets your hand, at once both smooth and grippy, yet welcome thanks to its lack of cold metal. The matte finish ensures a firm grip even if your paws are sweaty.
On the top are the 510 thread with leak-proof slot and anti-scraper. The top 510 connection is spring loaded – it features a flexible and adaptive electrode with good elasticity, but moderate hardness. Near the thread, silver lettering with "M VV" delivers a simple yet elegant effect.
The rear battery cover is firm, not loose, and easy to open. Use your finger to trace along the word "OPEN" before depressing it slightly to open it. 4 pairs of strong magnets keep the battery cover firmly affixed to the host. The electrodes are flexible, making it easy to install two 18650 batteries.
The "T" shaped heat dissipation slots are located on the cover with the carbon fiber heat dissipation patch on the rear cover - all these combine to deliver an effective cooling solution. Despite this, we did notice the heat of the battery during high power output situations. We also noticed quite a discernible gap between the back cover and the host body.
The DOVPO mod is powered by dual high-drain 18650 batteries in series. There is no Micro USB port, so it cannot be recharged directly. To keep the device juiced means using a battery charger or having spare 18650s handy.
The main operating panel consists of a rectangular Fire button featuring the DOVPO logo, a trapezoidal display measuring 0.26 x 0.39 x 1.14 inches (6.5 x 10 x 29mm), and a round adjustable voltage control knob. The clicky ignition key is responsive, regardless of the angle and strength of the press. As for the display, it is not intended to show output data: the 4 blue LEDs lights indicate the current mod state and voltage based on the LED lights and flash pattern. In addition, the Potentiometer can also be divided into 5 gears (I < II < III < IV < V), with manually adjustable voltage settings from 1.0V to 8.0V – simply rotate using your finger or a screw driver. It’s as easy as pie!
How to Use the DOVPO M VV Mech Mod
1. Ensure both 18650 batterise are correctly inserted based on the "+" / "-" poles.
2. Click the fire button 5 times to toggle the device on and off. To start, all 4 LEDs will flash twice at the same time; to indicate shutdown, all 4 LEDs will flash 3 times at the same time.
3. As a safety measure, the 4 LEDs will flash 5 times to remind you and the M VV mod will automatically stop if the firing time has exceeded 10s.
4. If the atomizer has shorted out, the 4 LEDs will flash 5 times together to alert you, the output will be automatically cut of.
5. To indicate low power warning, the 4th LED lights will flash 5 times to remind you to charge or replace the batteries.
6. When the temperature is too high, the 4 LEDs will flash 10 times together and output will terminate by itself.
7. Press the fire button to start vaping, with the indicator lights turning on to indicate the present battery voltage level: 1 LED means < 6.8V; 2 LEDs mean ≥ 6.8V but < 7.2V; 3 LEDs mean ≥ 7.2V but < 7.9V; and 4 LEDs mean ≥ 7.9V.
Please consult the following table for atomizer resistance and recommended starting settings. You should begin by setting your device to the appropriate setting, then make adjustments from there:

Note: The above advice is based on the following conditions:
a. The installed batteries are fully charged and support 35A discharge current.
b. As the battery voltage drops during use, you should make small adjustments to maintain the power.
c. If the batteries do not support 35A discharge, making a small increase to the settings may compensate to allow greater vapor production (I < II < III < IV < V).
d. When the battery voltage drops too low, increasing device setting will eventually stop increasing the vapor production, please recharge the 18650 batteries.
e. If you batteries do not provide sufficient discharge, increasing the setting will not increase vapor production past a certain point. Newer/better batteries must be installed.
The following sheet indicates about the technical parameters of the DOVPO M VV. As you can see, the device supplies 1 - 8V output voltage which is higher than other mod devices with 3.6 - 6.5V. That translates across to a wider application range and increased versatility.

Through our own hands-on testing, we can confirm that the output voltage of the DOVPO M VV mod is higher than other devices with a 3.6 - 6.5V output range at gear 2.2 and the same resistance. In short, it is more powerful than the same type mods after gear 2.2.

Above are the voltage outputs in zero resistance (Ω). From the sheet, we can calculate the voltage and adjust gears by setting power based on the resistance. Also, we can obtain the power output from the atomizer resistance and gears. The formula is P=U²/R.
For example, using a 0.3Ω Ni80 Clapton coil.
Due to coil heating up quickly, we use gear 2.0, then the voltage is 3.3V, the power is approximately equal to 36W = 3.3² / 0.3. With these settings, the atomizer delivers an ideal combination of vapor, temperature, puffs, and flavor.
While setting this coil at 3.6 - 6.5V device, it can only use gear 1.0 (3.6V). So the power is approaching 43W = 3.6² / 0.3. The vape flavor and general taste will not as ideal or good as the previous example. Moreover, the hotter vapor can also lead to a burnt taste and less puff.
Brief Comparison of DOVPO M VV and Tesla Invader III
1. Both of them are crafted from premium zinc alloy with similar weight profiles.
2. Both have the same height and width, but different thickness: the Invader III is 22mm, while the M VV is 24mm – this extra width allows it to fit atomizer up to 24mm without any overhang.
3. Regarding 510 connection, the M VV is superior. Unlike the Tesla's 510 slight 2mm protrusion, the MVV sits flush with the top.
4. The M VV's fire button is bigger than the Invader III's, but any preference will be entirely subjective and based on the individual user.
5. The DOVPO M VV features a more intuitive LED display showing battery voltage mod state.
6. Last but not least, the DOVPO M VV has a wider output voltage range (1.0 to 8.0V), compared to the Invader III's 3.6 to 6.6V.
