95 points! DXOMARK announces Sony Xperia 5 camera score: average performance

By  Maurits Moneo 2020-02-03 2090 22

On January 22nd, DXOMARK announced that Sony Xperia 5 phones scored a total score of 95 on camera performance tests. DXOMARK rated the performance of the Sony Xperia 5 camera as lagging behind the top models, with picture quality equivalent to that of the iPhone 8 Plus with a score of 94 and Samsung Galaxy Note 8 with a score of 94, which is only medium.

The Sony Xperia 5 has three rear cameras, namely, a 12-megapixels main camera lens, a 12-megapixels ultra-wide-angle lens and a 12-megapixels telephoto lens. Among them, the main camera lens and telephoto lens have auto-focus function and 5-axis anti-shake system, and support up to 4K 24/30fps HDR video recording, as well as 1080p/30fps full HD video.

In addition, Sony Xperia 5 has a total camera performance score of 95, with photo shooting and video projects scoring similar to Sony Xperia 1, 101 for photo projects and 83 for video projects. Sony Xperia 5 photos are better at exposure, artifacts, textures, night scenes and wide angles, and slightly worse in autofocus and zoom projects. In the video project, after activating the anti-shake feature, Sony Xperia 5 improved video artifact handling compared to Xperia 1, but scored slightly lower on video color and stability tests.

Elsewhere, it was launched in September last year and is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon855 mobile platform with a 6GB+128GB memory combination and a 6.1in OLED display with a 21:9 display ratio. However, we don't seem to be able to ask too much of the Sony Xperia 5, which is, after all, a compact mid-range phone.
