A new form of AR glasses: projecting images directly into the human retina
By Joscelin Self 2020-02-08 1906 29
Evan Ackerman (Evan Ackerman) of (IEEE Spectrum) magazine tested the glasses on CES and needed a custom accessory to make sure the laser did hit the wearer's retina. After that, it could transmit information such as images, text, notices and direction tips directly into your field of vision, which could be a sign that smart glasses of the future will at least not be as bulky as some head-wearing devices.
According to Ackerman, the glasses can deceive the brain's perception of distance. Lasers can change the size of any text or image they emit, making them look closer or farther as needed, without the need to move the focus at all.
In addition, one of the benefits of using an eye laser is that once you have overcome the insecurity of shining the laser directly into your eyeball, it is easy for the wearer to ignore the display and focus on the content. Eye lasers rely on technology from Intel two years ago, and it's not clear when Light Drive will actually be in the hands of consumers.
