ColorOS 7 will first come to Realme phones: it will offer pure Android experience

By  Goraud Mazanec 2019-10-25 985 0

Realme is a company that has burst onto the mobile market. The company, OPPO's first cousin, uses the same operating system as OPPO on your ColorOS 6 terminals, although with some minor aesthetic changes. On occasion it has been mentioned that Realme was preparing RealmeOS, a kind of alternative personalization layer, but it will not be so. It will still be ColorOS, but it will move away from what OPPO offers.

In an episode of #AskMadhav, a YouTube show in which Realme users ask their CEO, Madhav Sheth, about the company's current affairs and plans, Sheth has said that there will be no ColorOS 6.0.1 and that the next step will be ColorOS 7, a customization layer that will be very similar to the Android Stock experience.

Will ColorOS and OxygenOS intersect?

According to Madhav Sheth, "Realme mobiles are based on ColorOS and will continue to be so. Still, ColorOS 7 will have an exclusive version for Realme mobiles only and will be much closer to the Android Stock experience. That way, OPPO would still have the customization layer we all know, while Realme would get closer to what OnePlus offers with OxygenOS, at least in theory.

We must remember that OPPO, Vivo, OnePlus, Realme and IQOO belong to the same conglomerate, BBK Electronics, although Realme differs from OPPO in terms of brand positioning. OPPO goes for the public looking for a more careful and premium design, while Realme is configured as an alternative to Xiaomi and its sales argument is the value for money, thus targeting the younger audience.

OPPO and Realme belong to the same business conglomerate: BBK Electronics

The CEO of Realme hasn't given more details about what we can expect from the new layer of customization, but as far as we know from OnePlus, which is the closest experience to pure Android within BBK Electronics, we can get an idea: non-aggressive customization and system-level modifications to polish or improve certain aspects.

It's a movement similar to what ASUS did with ZenUI 6, which went from being a heavy layer to bet on an aesthetic more similar to pure Android with some additions at the software level. According to the CEO, an aesthetic of this type is being very demanded by users, so we can only wait for Realme to move tab.
