Essential PH-2? Andy Rubin reveals the next Essential phone with strange design and colors

In the photographs Rubin himself mentions that we are dealing with a "new user interface for a radically different form factor". And it is that the design does not resemble anything that we have today in the market, where it seems to seek to prioritize the ability to use it with one hand.
Rubin doesn't give details about this mysterious smartphone, nor does he specify if it's a project that will be part of his company Essential, so so far we have to rely on assumptions and what we see in the images.
The founder of Essential also presents us with a small video that shows the back of the mysterious mobile phone, highlighting the presence of a cleft that could well be used to incorporate a fingerprint sensor. While in the upper part we can see the camera that protrudes from the design.
Essential PH-2: GEM Colorshift material
As for the colours, which remind us of what Huawei, Honor and even Samsung have done, Rubin mentions that they are "GEM Colorshift material", which are perceived as extremely iridescent when changing colour depending on the angle from which they are viewed.
Essential PH-2: unique design and new UI
But what certainly attracts more attention is that design and interface. In photographs it is difficult to perceive the size, but if we compare it with the hand that holds it, it seems to have the length of a standard mobile but perhaps half the width of what we have today.
In the front you can see what appears to be a camera in the upper left part, inside the screen, which incidentally covers almost this entire front.
The interface shows a kind of widgets of each of the applications, which will be interesting if it is a kind of carousel of apps that scrolls up or down, and when you click on any shows the app throughout the screen.
As I mentioned, it is not clear that this mobile is the new Essential, but if it is, it would be a very interesting approach to how Rubin imagines the new smartphones should be. Let's remember that Essential PH-1 was the first mobile to arrive with this concept of "full screen", as well as a modular design and pure Android that allow it to continue receiving updates almost immediately.
But despite all this, the Essential and its attractive ceramic finish was not as successful as expected, so a few months after its launch suffered a price cut and the company ended up laying off 30% of its employees. In fact, there was a rumor that Essential 2 had been cancelled and Rubin was looking to sell the company, something that was no longer known after the accusations of sexual harassment and alleged complicity of Google.
Now we just have to wait and see what Andy Rubin has in his hands, who is characterized precisely by betting on something new and surprise us with his launches.
