Gigabyte launches AORUS Gen4 AIC expansion card

For those looking to expand memory and get the best performance possible, Gigabyte recently introduced the new AORUS Gen4 AIC adapter, a high-end expansion card that converts a motherboard's PCI Express 4.0 x16 connection to four M.2-22110 SSDs, each powered by the PCI Express 4.0 x4 bus.

Each slot supports M2 SSD formats. 2242/2260/2280/22110 and can expand memory up to 8TB and support RAID 0, RAID 1 and RAID 10.

Gigabyte equipped 5.5mm pure copper heat sink

To keep the entire system cool, Gigabyte has equipped the adapter with a 5.5mm pure copper heat sink, a 50mm fan for heat dissipation, eight temperature sensors, and multiple thermal pads that must ensure SSDs operate at a low temperature.

AORUS Storage Manager utility

In addition, the company offers the AORUS Storage Manager utility, software that performs the entire fan operation control, which has three modes (Quiet, Balanced or Power) and displays temperature and status details of the SSDs installed on the adapter.

The adapter supports all motherboards with AMD X399 chipsets (1st and 2nd generation Threadrippers) and the future AMD TRX40, which will arrive with future 3rd generation Threadrippers. The company also provides support for AMD X570 (3rd generation Ryzen) motherboards, but only on specific models.

Aside from Intel, Gigabyte says the adapter supports all X299X and X299 chipset motherboards known to accompany enthusiastic Intel Core X processors.
