Health and medicines: Google Assistant would advise better than Siri or Alexa

By  Fields Corrielus 2019-06-24 196 0

Google Assistant would be more likely to give you information about your medications. PDAs are particularly useful for obtaining information without having to enter keywords in a search field. This can help you, for example, if you are taking medication and want information about it.

But of course, the information given is not the same for each assistant. And as reported by CNBC in Toronto, researchers at Klick Health's laboratory wanted to know which of the assistants currently available could provide the best advice to users taking drugs. The answer: Google Assistant.

Google Assistant, better adviser?

To reach this conclusion, the researchers would have asked Google Assistant, Siri and Amazon Alexa to provide information on the 50 most prescribed drugs.

Google Assistant reportedly identified 92% of drug names and 84% of generics. The results were less impressive for Siri (58% and 51%) and Amazon Alexa (55% and 46%).

PDAs and connected speakers have not been specifically developed to provide advice on medicines. But since these are increasingly present in our daily lives, it is interesting to know to what extent Assistant, Siri, and Google Assistant can assist us in different areas.

As explained in a previous article, it is currently estimated that the number of speakers connected in use will exceed the number of touch pads in use by 2021. By 2023, there would be 600 million speakers connected in use worldwide.

But of course, the results of the study mentioned in this article are to be taken with some caution since the tests were very limited (the number of drugs) and because they were done in English.
