Smartphone or remote control? Xiaomi Launches New Cheap Qin AI Life

Xiaomi is known for launching a number of smart devices, but they can bring a certain complication to those who are not used to dealing with technology. For this reason, the Chinese giant announced this week a hybrid between smartphone and universal remote control to solve this problem.

According to the company, the device is produced by subsidiary Qin and adopts a simpler design language. Therefore, we have a body entirely made of plastic, and the device weighs only 105 grams and has a screen of 5.05 inches.

To bring a eye-catching design to the front, the new Qin AI Life has no camera for selfies. Thus, photos can only be taken with the rear sensor of only 5 MP. See below the design of the brand's new cockroach:

As the new device was designed to be part of the input category, don't expect too much performance from it. That's because the new Qin AI Life is powered by the Spreadtrum SC9832E processor, which works with only 1 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal storage.

With simpler specifications, Xiaomi uses Android 9.0 Go as the operating system and maintains the 4G connection as a differential. Finally, the device is powered by a 2,100 mAh battery, has a USB-C port and features a modified interface with larger buttons and menus.

Thus, Xiaomi makes it clear that this device is more of a universal remote control than a smartphone. That's because it also brings the Xiao AI assistant, Mijia app to control smart devices and a dedicated button for the infrared sensor.

For now, the device is only available on the company's crowdfunding platform. The initial price of the new Qin AI Life is only 499 yuan, something around R$ 272 in direct conversion and without considering Brazilian taxes.
