According to foreign media reports, Sony has applied to the World intellectual property Office for a patent for a motion controller with a fingerprint sensor that can identify where the finger hits the sensor panel. This kind of controller can be applied to first-person shooting, interaction in VR games, flight simulation and so on.
According to the patent, the PlayStation 5 motion controller will be designed in a slender vertical strip with fingerprints and infrared sensors. When the player's hand surrounds the controller and the finger grabs the sensor area, the fingerprint sensor will be able to detect and estimate how the fingers move and the distance between the fingers.

In terms of design, the PlayStation 5 motion controller will have a trigger button at the top and a sensor array below. On the other side is the joystick and DualShock control button, and on the right is the belt to ensure that players don't throw it out during exercise. In fact, the controller will be a lighter and more stylish version of the PlayStation Move motion controller. However, it is not clear whether players will get tactile feedback in the sensor area of the motion controller.
