Thai regulators auction 5G licenses: a total of US $3.2 billion for official commercial use this year

Thailand's telecom regulator held a 5G spectrum auction on Sunday, with a total value of 100.52 billion baht, or about $3.2 billion, according to foreign media reports. Thai telecom operators have purchased a total of 48 photos and are expected to commercialize the 5G network this year.

In the auction, Thai telecom operator AIS (Advanced Info Service) sold 23 licenses in all three bands, becoming the biggest winner of the auction. True Corporation and Total Access Communication were granted 17 and 2 licenses, respectively. CAT Telecom and TOT, which participated in the spectrum auction for the first time, won a total of six licenses.

 
5G

(NBTC), Thailand's National Radio and Television Commission, said that the data speed of 5G technology is 100 times faster than that of 4G networks, which will help promote the development of Thailand's digital economy. At the same time, Takorn Tantasith, secretary general of Thailand's National Radio and Television Commission, also said that Thailand's 5G technology is expected to boost economic growth of at least 177 billion baht this year, accounting for 1.02% of Thailand's GDP.
