My Outdoor Experience: 1 Month Later, What Happened to My Cubot Quest Smartphone?

I fell in love with the Cubot Quest from the beginning when I used the smartphone. For quite some time, I was looking for a rugged smartphone. However, most smartphones intended for outdoors were both big and heavy.

Cubot Quest stood out as a perfect solution to the problem. The smartphone device is 8.8mm, which is ultra-thin and impressively easier to hold than other rugged smartphones available in the market.

I have been using the phone for over a month now and here is my complete experience with the Cubot Quest Smartphone.

IP68 Rating

The smartphone device features IP68 rating certification, which means that it is waterproof and dustproof.

I tested the device by submerging it into 1.5m underwater for about 15 minutes. Then, I took it out, and I found that it was not damaged at all, and it functioned as usual.

I love hiking in the rain. I was ambivalent about the idea of whether to take my smartphone with me or not because if I didn’t take my phone, I would miss calls and SMS; if I took it with me, I would have to prevent it from water carefully, or it would be damaged.

However, thanks to Cubot Quest, an IP68 waterproof smartphone, now, I can start my adventure in the rain right away.

I did get wet a few times during hiking, but the phone was working well, even when in the rain.

The company declaims that the device is the best choice for sports lovers, who are looking for an anti-drop, waterproof and dustproof device capable of withstanding the harshest environments.

I am not a good smartphone user rather than a phone destroyer, because my phone always drops from my hands. Fortunately, I’ve got Cubot Quest which can survive drops.

Thanks to the high-strength polyester edges of the smartphone, Cubot Quest is durable and drop-resistant. Additionally, the entire screen of Cubot Quest is protected by the Corning Gorilla Glass 5, which further enhances its durability.

Face and Fingerprint Sensors

The thinnest rugged smartphone in the world comes with a fingerprint scanner and Face ID with which the user can unlock Quest instantly. Both are very useful, work perfectly for me, and I am particularly fond of the latter.

Face ID Unlock functions well in strong and low light conditions, such as in the strong sunlight at noon, at dawn, before the nightfall.

I was even able to unlock the device when I was wearing my glasses. The accuracy and speed of unlocking are quite impressive.

Additionally, the fingerprint sensor at the back of the device, just below the LED and camera settings, perform fairly well, too. By using it, I can unlock the phone in about one-third second.

Battery Performance

I am quite impressed with the battery performance of the device. The smartphone comes with a 4000 mAh rechargeable battery. It takes about 2 hours to charge the phone completely.

As I am not a heavy user, the battery can last for about 36 hours with some social media Apps working simultaneously.

What’s more surprising is that the battery doesn’t drain in a few hours when I run CPU and GPU intensive games like PUBG.

Because of the high capacity, I don’t need to worry about low battery when I am far away from the power grid, which is fantastic.

There is a dual camera at the back of the device that comes with features like autofocus, panorama, face detection, and night mode. The primary camera is 12 MP, and secondary camera is 2 MP.

I can capture some good images that are crisp and clear in terms of colors and sharpness. Cubot Quest can realize bokeh to blur the background, giving an artistic touch to my photos.

Apart from that, there is also an 8 MP front-facing selfie camera which enables me to record HD photos and videos.

I am frantic at selfies because it is necessary for me to mark down the place where I’ve been. So far, I am satisfied with the picture quality of the cameras.

The rugged smartphone has a speaker which is at the back around the lower left corner. I admire the sound quality because of the fascinating performance of the phone at high frequency.

I tested the speaker while playing games and music and was quite pleased with the sound quality. I was able to feel the vibration in my ear, which means that the sound quality is good. The speakers, in general, are loud and clear.

Another feature that I think highly of is NFC. The NFC of Cubot Quest is to complete the payment with near field communication technology, which is perfect for checking out in supermarkets, convenience stores, and access a building.

Various kinds for information on your bank cards, transit cards, access control cards can be read, written to the NFC of Cubot Quest, so you will be able to use it whenever needed.

What Else?

Additionally, there is a button on the left side of the phone that can be used to configure for more convenience. By pressing the button, you can take photos, videos, and launch any installed apps immediately.

Final Thoughts

I like what the Cubot Quest smartphone device offers at for less than $200. Apart from its ultra-thin body, it is quite light so you are able to hold it in your hand without feeling muscle tension for a whole day.

Moreover, the phone is waterproof and dustproof, ideal for my outdoor activities, including hiking and water sports.

If you don’t want your high spirits dampening by a smartphone that is not suitable for outdoors, you should use Cubot Quest! Don’t hesitate, here comes the summer vacation!
