Xiaomi Redmi Knockoff? This Budget Smartphone Is Unstoppable, Disrupting The Smartphone Market

Since the beginning of the year 2019, Redmi, a brand which led the development of budget smartphones seems to be less competitive, especially after the returning of Realme. It offers competitive products without precedent, catching Redmi off guard.

The Realme X released in the first half of this year is incredible. It is because it provides extraordinary configuration for $377.76, including a full-screen display, a pop-up camera, an in-screen fingerprint scanner, and a 48MP flagship CMOS sensor.

It is nearly impossible to find any counterparts for it from brands like Redmi and Honor.

Although Redmi took the priority, Realme was prepared beforehand

At present, the competition in the smartphone market is fierce. Although Redmi launched Note 8 Series in advance, it seems that Realme is ready to fight against it.

The brand new Realme Q Series will undoubtedly be debuted on September 5. As the consecutive marketing of the product, more and more related information about Realme Q has been unveiled.

In terms of the positioning, the main competitor of Realme Q is Redmi Note 8. Although their prices are around $250, Realme Q is even better than in the appearance, CPU configuration, camera performance, battery life, and so on. As a result, those who wanted to buy Redmi Note 8 take a liking to Realme Q gradually.

Realme Q redefines the budget smartphones with superior specs

Redmi Note 8 is quite attractive owing to its low price, starting from 1399 yuan ($194.9). However, Realme Q has advantages over Redmi Note 8 with more improvements.

For instance, it’s stunning that Redmi Note 8 uses Snapdragon 665 SoC; in comparison, Realme Q uses Snapdragon 712, which outperforms the former a lot.

As we know, the AnTuTu Benchmark result of Snapdragon 712 is over 50,000. Moreover, the Realme Q Series smartphones feature UFS 2.1 flash memory. There is no doubt that the difference in performance is huge.

Regarding the camera, Redmi Note 8 is the first smartphone under $200 to use a quad-camera module with a 48MP primary camera. However, the image sensor is Samsung GM1, which, in essence, is a 12MP one. Redmi Note 8 produces 48MP photos through interpolation.

In comparison, Realme Q incorporates the 48MP Sony IMX586 image sensor as the primary camera. The Sony image sensor is outstanding and well-received in flagships such as Xiaomi Mi 9, Huawei Honor View 20 and OnePlus 7 Pro.

Now, let’s focus on battery life, which is the most concerned. Redmi Note 8 comes with a 4000mAh battery and 18W quick charge; while Realme Q uses 4035mAh battery and 20W VOOC Flash Charge 3.0.

The latter lasts even longer and offers a higher charging speed. In addition to the USB Type-C interface, it will bring a better user experience.

At last, the case of Realme Q can withstand being heated in boiling water (100 degrees Celsius) and free fall from 1.8m high places. In addition to the resistance to dust and water, it won’t lag behind most flagship smartphones.

What is the limit of budget smartphones? Realme Q is a landmark

Honestly, many users admire Redmi Note 8 because the configuration of such a budget smartphone seems to reach the extremity. However, as disclosure of more and more features of Realme Q, they find that the Realme Q means a fantastic breakthrough, pushing the cost-performance ratio to a new high.

As Mr. Xu, Realme CMO says, they intend to provide a full-featured smartphone in all aspects.

Although Redmi still upgrades its product line regularly and maintain its competitiveness, it seems a bit inferior to Realme now. As Realme presents the “revolutionary” product, we believe that Realme will gradually be the choice of more people.
