OnePlus 7 vs. OnePlus 7 Pro: What Are the Differences Between These Smartphones?

OnePlus released its next-gen phones in the middle of this year. OnePlus 7 Pro introduced some prominent upgrades, including a pop-up selfie camera, premium resolution, and ultra-wide rear camera.

Since those upgrades are significant, OnePlus 7 Pro ranks top among the flagships and sells like hotcakes.

The OnePlus 7 and 7 pro build on the legacy of previous models with a couple of improvements, making these two the best phones the brand has ever released.

In this article, we'll try to show what these phones truly offer. It's a comparison guide and will help you learn what you may get with each phone.

OnePlus 7 vs. OnePlus 7 Pro: Similarities

The main similarities between the models include:

· Processor
· Memory
· Performance
· In-Screen Fingerprint scanner

Both phones use the same snapdragon 855 processor. It's the top-tier Processor for Android phones in 2019, so you won't be left disappointed with the performance.

Both the phones typically feature 6GB and 8GB RAM. However, if you want superfast speed, then you can go for the 12 GB RAM version of OnePlus 7 Pro.

Neither of these models offers support for external memory to expand their storage capabilities. Therefore, you will be stuck with either 128GB or 256GB of internal storage. The storage you will be given depends on how much you want to spend.

Both the phones are evenly matched when it comes to performance. It would be virtually impossible to tell the difference based on how smoothly they run apps.

In-Screen Fingerprint Scanner

Both of the phones offer an in-screen fingerprint scanner that uses some light to illuminate your finger. A small camera under the screen takes the shot of your finger, which is then compared to the stored image.

OnePlus7 vs. OnePlus 7 Pro: Differences

Despite running on the same processor, there are several differences between OnePlus 7 and 7 Pro such as:
· Back camera
· Display
· Battery
· Price

Back Camera

Although the performance levels of both the models are similar, their photographic capabilities are way different from each other. The Pro model has a 48MP+16MP+8MP triple-lens camera, whereas the standard model sticks with a 48MP+5MP dual-lens.

While both the phones make use of similar front cameras, the back camera in the Pro model will give you access to more tricks such as phase detection autofocus, continuous autofocus, and laser autofocus.

That said, the camera in the standard model is no slouch – it's just Pro model is more superior.

The standard model features a 6.4" flat OLED display with a waterdrop notch, while the Pro version has a 6.7" curved full-screen OLED display. There's a big difference in resolution, too.

OnePlus 7 adopts 2340 x 1080 full HD+ resolutions while the Pro version features 3120 x 1440 Quad HD+ resolutions.

The Display in OnePlus 7 Pro is a big upgrade over anything that the company has produced before.

The Pro version features a 4000mAh battery, while the standard version uses a battery capacity of 3700mAh.

Also, the Pro model comes with a 30W Warp Charge, while the standard model only offers quick charging. The wireless charging feature isn't present in any of the phones.

Unsurprisingly, OnePlus 7 is cheaper of the two. It starts at $565 for the model with 6GB RAM, rising to $700 for the 8GB model.

The pro model, on the other hand, starts at $669 with the top model costing $749.

What Makes OnePlus 7 Pro Stand Out?

There's plenty to like about this phone. With pop-up selfie camera, triple rear camera, premium glass, and sharp notch-free display, the OnePlus 7 Pro offers more than enough to be liked.

However, the best thing about this phone is the price. Yes, when you compare this model against phones with similar displays and camera departments, it seems like a stellar deal!

For example, an entry-level OnePlus 7 Pro (6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage) will cost you only $669. Enhance the RAM to 8GB and storage to 256GB, and the price jumps to $699.

While these prices seem expensive, when you compare them to other flagship smartphones such as iPhone XR (fewer rear cameras, smaller screen, less RAM), which costs $749, it'll suddenly seem like a bargain.

The Verdict

When put in comparison, OnePlus 7 Pro seems the more exciting device of the two. It has a better display, much superior rear cam, more RAM, and storage options. That said, OnePlus 7 pro is more expensive than the standard model.

If you are after value for money or want an upgrade on your previous OnePlus device, then OnePlus 7 is the one to buy.

However, if you're going to enjoy the latest tech for a little less than what you would pay for Apple or Samsung Phones, then OnePlus 7 Pro is the model to consider!

Good luck with your purchase!
