The TV Box Means the Best Use of Your $30 for Catching up on Your Favorite TV Shows

I recently purchased the Mecool M8S PRO and I can honestly say that it is one of the best decisions I have made since adulthood. I had heard about Android TV boxes a few times, but I’ve never used such things as other people have.

However, when I began to feel like purchasing consoles for video games, subscribing to satellite TV was becoming a bit too much for me, so I decided to explore other alternatives. That was when I began to seriously look into the options that Android TV boxes had to offer.

The more I searched, the more fascinated I became by the functionality of such a device. At some point, I knew for sure I was getting a TV box.

But my dilemma was far from over; I still needed to figure out which TV box to get. You see, there are so many TV boxes in the market currently; it gets very hard to decide. However, the more I read about the Mecool M8S PRO, the more confident I was that I had found what I was looking for in a TV box.

The first thing that impressed me is the sleek minimalist design of the hardware. I agree that the packaging maybe a little boring: just a plain white cardboard box with the device specs written at the back. But since when gadgets are known for their elaborate packaging?

What matters is what’s inside, and trust me for just about $30, this particular product can definitely boast of what’s inside.

The Mecool M8S PRO runs on Android 7.1 Android operating system and Amlogic’s S905W quad-core processor. Now, while that is not exactly the fastest processor out there, it works just fine for those of you who are not heavy users.

Connectivity is not an issue with this device as it holds two USB 2.0 ports, a headphone jack, an HDMI 2.0 output, Wi-Fi connectivity, and a micro SD slot. At least you know that nothing is going to get in between you and your favorite Netflix/Hulu series. For that purpose, the graphics are quite decent.

A downside to the Mecool M8S PRO TV box, however, is the display limitation for high-resolution graphics. Its resolution is limited to 4K at 30Hz although lower resolutions can get all the way to 60Hz. If you’re a high-level gamer or someone who is just a little uptight about graphics, this might irk you a bit.

The first time I used my TV box, I was so impressed by how easy it was to set up. Once you connect it to a power source and your television, after you boot it, navigating the menu is a straightforward process.

While the main screen may be simple and functional, there could have been a little more refinement. A little UI/UX upgrade never hurts anyone. Once you get past the slightly unexciting menu page, everything else works well.

The 2GB RAM on this device makes surfing the internet a rather seamless process even though heavy gamers might require a little more than that.

For me, the most disappointing discovery about the Mecool M8S PRO was the lack of a Bluetooth module. While it is not essential for the TV box’s functionality, it’s just a feature I think would have sealed the deal for a lot of people still on the fence about purchasing this device.

For a TV box in its price range, the Mecool M8S PRO definitely exceeds expectations. However, it might not work for everybody. If you are someone who is particular about high-level gaming and programming, this TV box might not be all the way there yet.

However, if you’re just a regular Jane looking to surf the Internet and catch up on your favorite TV shows, then purchasing this TV box will probably be the best use of your $30.
