Cubot Quest Hands-on Review

Cubot Quest Hands-on Review

Today, a tough phone equals a long-lasting companion. Whether you are skateboarding, jogging, or doing any sports activity, you need a phone that can survive the challenging conditions and the accidental falls.

Cubot Quest is the best phone you can get your hands on. Launched in Hong Kong Electronics Fair on October 18, 2018, the tough phone was designed with road bikers, runners, and swimmers in mind.

The China-based company has a reputation of making robust devices, and Cubot Quest is one of the flagships living up to the name this year. Let’s explore the key features of the rugged Cubot Quest.

Design & Appearance

Cubot Quest is attractive to the eye. The company put a lot of effort into making the phone stand out. The phone features a 5.5-inch display, and there is also another version, the Cubot Quest Lite with a 5-inch screen.

The back of the phone is engraved with running, swimming and cycling patterns, meaning it’s designed for people who live an active life. The company logo is displayed on the bottom. Moreover, Cubot Quest is waterproof and dust-proof.

Performance

Cubot Quest sports a 4GB RAM that supports multitasking. It also has a 64GB internal storage to store all your music, video recordings, and personal files.

And in case 64GB is not enough for you, you can always chuck in a 128GB Micro SD memory card or less. I have a 32GB memory card that I was afraid it would get lost, so I put in. It works nicely and I am glad at more storage memory.

Quest is powered by an MT6762-core MediaTek processor also known as Helio P22. It also has PowerVR GE8320 with 650MHz graphics. The phone works smoothly and runs Android 9.0. The graphics are pretty impressive for me. Besides, I love how Android 9 operates.

Camera Features

When you buy a phone, one of the things you consider is the camera. Can it produce crisp, clear images? What about zooming?

Can the camera take clear shots in the dark with the help of LED flash? What’s the quality of the videos? Cubot Quest has back and front cameras that you can use to capture fantastic memories.

The gadget is equipped with a dual primary camera of 13 MP and 2 MP with LED flashlight. The camera can record HD videos as well. The phone also has an 8 MP selfie camera with LED flashlight, capable of recording clear HD videos.

More features of the camera include Geo-tagging, face detection, touch focus, panorama. HDR, autofocus, 6 element lens, and more amazing ones that make me want to capture every scene.

Sometimes I come across magnificent scenery in the mountains, with my Cubot Quest camera, I capture them all happily.

Resistance

Built with rugged materials and corner buffers, the Cubot Quest can handle substantial impacts. Moreover, the device has Corning Gorilla Glass 5th gen, a common feature in high-end phones to ensure the screen is not vulnerable. But the benefits of having Cubot Quest don’t end there.

It’s also water-resistant, meaning the phone won’t damage if you get caught up in the rain. The phone can last for almost half an hour under the water. There was a time I slid and fell from my MTB while crossing a river. I got my knee injured and wet. But my Quest was just okay.

Network and Connectivity

Cubot Quest serves the traditional purpose of a phone very well. You can call and text at ease. The dual-sim phone supports 4G and VolTE for both cards making it a 4G compliant mobile device.

The gadget comes with a hybrid card slot that allows you to use dual nanoSIM cards and a microSD memory card. It also has a more accurate GPS system which is crucial for cyclists or bikers.

Other network features include Wi-Fi, mobile hotspot, Bluetooth V5.0, A-GPS, USB 2.0, and a headphone jack. It also has a fingerprint scanner. I use Bluetooth to connect to my headsets to listen to music and answer calls without having to remove the device from the bag. I haven’t had any problems with reception.

Battery Endurance

The phone is slim and comfortable in the hands. Surprisingly, it sports a 4000mAh much reliable battery. You can go on day trips, longer riding sessions, camping, or any recreational activity for long hours without running out of juice.

The non-removable lithium polymer bat supports fast charging. It takes 2.5 hours for a full charge. However, it doesn’t support wireless charging. Considering the phone’s value, I’m impressed by how the batteries last. As long as I can fully charge the phone in a few hours, I’m just fine!

Conclusion

Cubot Quest has an irresistible appearance. Besides, the phone targets people who live an active lifestyle and love spending time on nature. The features of the device make it not just a smartphone, but a sports phone.

I’ve had a great experience using this device. The journey to finding a phone that suits my sports lifestyle ended here. I may never run from my problems, but I love to jog too.

This phone has experienced terrible falls but always immerges stronger. For me, I couldn’t ask for more, considering the pocket-friendly price.

The Quest is a global success thanks to its powerful features and smooth operation. Cubot Quest is retailing at around $149.99 while its younger sister, Cubot Quest Lite is going for $119.99. Grab yours and be part of the revolution!
