Partaker B16 Intel Core i3 8145U with DDR4 mSATA M.2 NVMe Fanless Mini PC

I was a bit dubious about a Chinese brand I didn't know, but it's turned out to be a great machine. I can't find any bloatware in my install and it runs great. The aluminum case has good finish and is solid.

I have my box sitting on the desk with my monitor sitting on it. That's less good thermally than having it up on its side using the included stand, for sure.

But for this particular i5 processor running everything as hard as I could, it was only consuming around 20 Watts and I haven't been able to get the processor hotter than 60 or 70 degC (the stated limit is 100 degrees). The case gets hot to the touch, but not dangerous or anything.

And I dug through my Windows 10 power settings and turned the Max power down from 100% to 99%. That doesn't sound like a big change, but it seems to disable a somewhat energy-wasteful overclocking feature which means you save a lot of power with a relatively modest hit to speed. For the kinds of things I'm doing (spreadsheets, video transcoding, some games) it's still a quite fast computer even at that 99% setting and only burns around 3 Watts most of the time, 10 W max. The case doesn't even get particularly hot.

With my modern 21" LED monitor's brightness turned down a bit, the entire system is normally consuming less than 10 Watts and is still pretty powerful. I save substantially on electricity while it's also not overheating my room!

And of course, it's totally silent so the humming I used to have with my old box if I left it on overnight to do some job doesn't bother me when I'm trying to sleep.

This is a sweet machine and I'm pleasantly surprised even beyond my relatively high expectations!

I didn't have to re-roll my distro for some horrible secure boot nonsense, it's not using some re-tasked processor and it isn't a sealed case with soldered components.

I've been looking for this computer for years and just came across it earlier in the summer and had a requirement that it fit this fall. It's great, it's everything you want and none of the crap you are used to having to deal with when looking at small form factor systems.

As a huge bonus, it's fanless and will done just fine in the closet with the network gear. I did some tests on it and it appears to ramp up to 3.6GHz for a few seconds and then drop back down to 2.8GHz while running 'stress' with 4 or 8 threads. It idles at ~800MHz and 36C for me with 2 minecraft servers, 2 terraria servers and DNS and DHCP running.

Ubuntu 18.04 installed without a hitch and I did the install on my 2K monitor in full res.

I'm now a huge fan of fanless PCs. This little device is great, high quality, and it seems like it'll last a lot longer than a traditional PC with moving parts. I do side work as IT support for various companies around me. I bought this for a market that sells garden supplies, and is typically a dusty area that was affecting their previous devices. So far this PC however has collected zero dust inside of it, and has been running like a champ...and they love it. I'm hoping to get more of them

Videorendern geht auch. Das Gehäuse wird dadurch wirklich sehr heiß. Ich entschied ich mich dazu ihn extra noch auf eine Gerätehalterung ebenfalls aus Aluminum zu fixieren um die Wärmeableitfläche zu vergrößen. Ist schon sehr angenehm nicht mehr die Lüftergeräusche hören zu müssen. Normalbetrieb-nicht mal handwarm Bis jetzt bin ich vollumfänglich zu frieden. Bleibt nur noch eine Langzeitbewertung (vielleicht 1 Jahr?) abzuwarten.

This pc is an absolutely excellent one....I'm delighted with it ever since the moment I first powered it up....it's lovely and small, noiseless and very fast-operating.
I've installed a 1TB SSD in addition to the included SSD....it's a 'tight fit' but working fine.
I intend buying another one (exactly the same) very, very soon. Excellent after-sales service from a very professional organisation.
