Design and portability

Webcams are often small, easy-to-carry devices that can be used on almost any computer. The designs are compact and many of them come in sober colors and with tripods, also with fixed or folding templates that you can place on different surfaces. If you are going to use it both on a desktop computer and on laptops, the ideal is to buy a computer that easily adapts to any of them.

In addition, it would be nice if it had a folding base with which you can adjust the inclination and direction you want, with 360-degree angle mobility and thus be able to use it without major complications, turning the webcam and not the PC to cover the entire context of the images to capture or transmit and that is not just a still image. By purchasing a regular size and with these properties, you can have the option of taking it anywhere comfortably.

Laptops, tablets, and even some desktop computers come with built-in cameras; however, the problem is that the image resolution and pixels are very low; it is there when it becomes necessary to acquire a webcam.

Depending on the use to be made and the speed of the internet connection, you should look for models that have a high image quality and pixels, that have a high number of frames per second (30 or more fps), of so that the quality of the movement is superior.

There are also models with the option to record and take pictures in high definition; all this will provide videos with more clarity and more attached to reality; but in contrast it will capture heavy and complicated images to send through the web, causing the receiver image to be slow and pixelated.

Microphone and light sensitivity

Something that is observed in the comparison of webcams is that most of them come with the option of capturing sound from the surrounding environment, through a built-in microphone; however, not all bring it. The difference between the various models and manufacturers that have it on the market is the price, the sharpness with which it captures it, as well as the ability to reduce noise and focus on the specific sound you want to record.

The best devices are usually those that come equipped with noise suppression, as they provide crisp and superior audio. It is also necessary to also consider the sensitivity of light, being more recommended by users those that can capture images, even with low quality of brightness or high exposure to the sun, so you can record videos both outdoors and indoors and the image continue to be good.

Connectivity and compatibility

The best thing about having a webcam is the possibility of being able to use it on any computer without restrictions, in order to get the most out of it and make videos either in real time, or to be transferred later via the Internet, Bluetooth or USB.

Considering this, those models that have connection through USB ports are usually classified as better, since this method facilitates the rapid transfer of data. Due to having an almost universal connection, users state that when connected, the device program will start automatically, saving annoying configurations with CD's or specific drivers.

In addition to this, before buying a webcam device, check the manufacturer's properties in relation to the software and compatibility with the operating systems, preferring those that adapt to the computers in the environment where you are going to use them. Keep in mind that some models have factory restrictions related to the support of RAM memory, and the operating system, among others.

How to setup a webcam?

In an age where technology is an essential part of our lives and is the protagonist of human communication, the use of a webcam has become something that cannot be missed. Whether it is to receive online classes, hold a business meeting or chat with our family and friends, it is always convenient to have this device. Therefore, we explain some basic tips on how to use this product.

Step 1: Check the inclusion of the accessories

Most of this equipment includes a series of accessories that allow you to complete the installation process and have a more productive use experience.

Among them, we can mention the connection cable, the support to place it on the computer or the table, some adhesive to help in fixing, etc. Verify that all the accessories mentioned in the purchase package have been included. If not, please contact the seller and try to solve the problem.

Step 2: Fix the camera

If you have already decided that your camera will be used with a laptop or desktop computer, proceed to fix it in the position you intend to use it, even if it is temporary. Generally, the camera is located in the center of the monitor or on one of the sides, so that it can capture the image at the correct angle.

Step 3: Connect the cable to the computer

Now it's time to connect the cable to the computer. This will depend on the type of cable that your camera has, since it can be USB or another type. In either case, identify the corresponding port and apply a little pressure to match the cable header to the corresponding input on the computer or CPU.

Step 4: Turn on the camera

When you make the previous connection, it is possible that a light will come on in the camera and that an alarm will be activated in the computer, indicating that the connection of a new device has been recognized and that you must proceed with its configuration. This is a good sign, because it indicates that both teams have mated and you just need to complete the procedure.

Step 5: Install camera software

Some camera models use special software or program to operate. If this is the case of the model you purchased, then you must do the corresponding installation.

This step is important because many of the camera's functions are sometimes closely related to the program the manufacturer developed for it. Thus, use the CD that has been included in the purchase or visit the company's website and download accordingly.

Step 6: Configure the device

Make the configuration of the device in terms of technical aspects. On this, the model you have purchased will depend a lot. However, you may need to configure basic aspects such as brightness, contrast, exposure, resolution level, among others.

Step 7: Take an image and sound test

Once you complete the previous step, proceed to perform an image and sound test, where you will see that the image is indeed being correctly captured and that the audio is being transmitted in the proper way.

Step 8: Turn off and unplug the camera

When you turn off the computer, you may need to turn off the camera separately. It is recommended to turn it off and disconnect it, to prevent it from continuing to capture images without your authorization, causing an invasion of your privacy.
