FAQ for SupTronics X400 Expansion Board

  • I've plugged my Raspberry Pi in, but nothing is appearing on the screen. What's wrong?

It is important that you connect your cables in the correct order, ensuring that the HDMI cable is plugged in before the power.
  • Only the red light on my Pi is on! Is it broken?

    1. Check that your SD card is inserted correctly into your Raspberry Pi.

    2. Check that your SD card contains the software required for the Raspberry Pi to boot.

  • Do I need another computer to use a Raspberry Pi?

You don't need another computer to use a Raspberry Pi, as it's a computer in its own right. However, when you need to create new micro SD cards, you might need occasional access to another computer.
  • I've copied NOOBS to an SD card, but it gets stuck on the splash screen. What should I do?

If NOOBS won't load once you have copied the files over, it may be that you have a corrupt SD card. If you've tried a different SD card and NOOBS still doesn't work, then you might want to try installing Raspbian directly.
  • I have a Raspberry Pi 3. Do I need a special power supply?

For most uses, the original official power supply will be fine.
  • Why Raspberry Pi boot sequence failures?

Unlike a PC, the Raspberry Pi does not have a BIOS, so without a working software image, it is stone-cold-dead. Without a working OS, and if the power supply works, the only thing guaranteed to happen is that the red power LED turns on. If an image at least starts to boot, then looking at the status LEDs and the HDMI monitor can provide some indication of where the boot process failed.
  • Rainbow screen, what can i do?

The rainbow flash screen should only appear for about a second (good). If the boot process halts with the rainbow screen on the monitor (bad), there may be a power supply issue, or a kernel software problem.
  • Bad or missing SD card, what is the problem?

Using a Raspberry Pi 2 as an example, if there is no activity on the monitor and if the red and green status LEDs stay lit and un-blinking after power up, the SD card may not be fully inserted, not detected properly, not flashed or not formatted correctly.
  • No WiFi networks found during discovery scan?

The activity LED on the WiFi dongle provides minimal indication of WiFi activity. If No WiFi networks are found, and it is flashing normally, there is no WiFi reception. If not flashing at all, the power requirements of the WiFi dongle may be over 150 mA, too high for a Pi USB port, or over 300 mA on a Pi B+, 2, and later versions (unlikely).
  • Why local WiFi network not found?

It may take one or two minutes to find all available WiFi networks. If the local network does not appear in the list, the WiFi portion of the local router may be down or disabled, reception may be bad, or the router may not be responding to WiFi discovery.

Best digital AMP DAC+ sound card for a Raspberry Pi
    Color:Black
    - (US) Highly recommended. High quality digital sound DAC+ RCA AMP. Thanks to Gearbest the delivery was very fast.
This Card has a IR Receiver, RCA Output, Phone jack 3.5mm and AMP 2x20W. The Suptronics Card works very well with RuneAudio/ Volumio on a RP2/3 and is fully compatible.

Polecam

The board is impressive : quite simple to configure (following Suptronics' website howto), it works perfectly with Max2Play and delivers surprisingly good sound quality (for the low price) !
The 2x20W power is largely enough at 50% volume to stream music in a 20m2 room. Over 50% it's too loud ;-)

    Pro :
    - Prix / Price
    - Qualité sonore / Sound quality
    - Les entretoises fournies / Spacers provided
    - Facile à mettre en place / Easy to install
    Suggestion
    - Pas de notice / no manual
    - Pas de mousse de protection dans la boite / Board has no foam protection in the box

    Supstronics X400 Expansion Board
    Color:Black

    Surprising
    Color:Black
Definitively a good amp. I tried it hooked up to my Topping TP-60 through the line out and with some low quality speakers driven on the terminals.
Very good (loud) volume output on the speaker amplifier.
Compared to my Fiio E10, lower background noise when silent.
    Suggestion
Does not work with any OS like I had originally though. I really hoped I could have had a Kodi OS with great quality audio output.

    Great sound!

Amazing sound! Super easy to set up with a raspberry pi 3. You will need a power supply, but you can also found that here in Gearbest. Works great with volumio and with my old Bose speakers.
    Suggestion
    None.

HW for RPI Volumio application (the most efficient)
    Color:Black
+ all mechanical parts for easy assembly
+ great (clear) audio sound output
+ fitting the needs of Volumio program (set as IQaudio Pi DAC+, I2C)
    + few heating
+ works with almost any PSU from old notebook (15V - 19V), forwarding 5V for Raspberry
    Suggestion
    all are not important:
    - RCA (cinch) connectors position is in interfering with volume knob
    - speaker output connectors are not in line (tilted from the PCB edge)

(- ) would be helpful to have 3 pins for external increment rotary knob (volume control)
