FAQ for Cooling Kit for Raspberry Pi 3 / 2 / B+

  • I've plugged my Raspberry Pi in, but nothing is appearing on the screen. What's wrong?

    It is important that you connect your cables in the correct order, ensuring that the HDMI cable is plugged in before the power.
  • Only the red light on my Pi is on! Is it broken?

    1. Check that your SD card is inserted correctly into your Raspberry Pi.

    2. Check that your SD card contains the software required for the Raspberry Pi to boot.

  • Do I need another computer to use a Raspberry Pi?

    You don't need another computer to use a Raspberry Pi, as it's a computer in its own right. However, when you need to create new micro SD cards, you might need occasional access to another computer.
  • I've copied NOOBS to an SD card, but it gets stuck on the splash screen. What should I do?

    If NOOBS won't load once you have copied the files over, it may be that you have a corrupt SD card. If you've tried a different SD card and NOOBS still doesn't work, then you might want to try installing Raspbian directly.
  • I have a Raspberry Pi 3. Do I need a special power supply?

    For most uses, the original official power supply will be fine.
  • Why Raspberry Pi boot sequence failures?

    Unlike a PC, the Raspberry Pi does not have a BIOS, so without a working software image, it is stone-cold-dead. Without a working OS, and if the power supply works, the only thing guaranteed to happen is that the red power LED turns on. If an image at least starts to boot, then looking at the status LEDs and the HDMI monitor can provide some indication of where the boot process failed.
  • Rainbow screen, what can i do?

    The rainbow flash screen should only appear for about a second (good). If the boot process halts with the rainbow screen on the monitor (bad), there may be a power supply issue, or a kernel software problem.
  • Bad or missing SD card, what is the problem?

    Using a Raspberry Pi 2 as an example, if there is no activity on the monitor and if the red and green status LEDs stay lit and un-blinking after power up, the SD card may not be fully inserted, not detected properly, not flashed or not formatted correctly.
  • No WiFi networks found during discovery scan?

    The activity LED on the WiFi dongle provides minimal indication of WiFi activity. If No WiFi networks are found, and it is flashing normally, there is no WiFi reception. If not flashing at all, the power requirements of the WiFi dongle may be over 150 mA, too high for a Pi USB port, or over 300 mA on a Pi B+, 2, and later versions (unlikely).
  • Why local WiFi network not found?

    It may take one or two minutes to find all available WiFi networks. If the local network does not appear in the list, the WiFi portion of the local router may be down or disabled, reception may be bad, or the router may not be responding to WiFi discovery.

    Cheap product, and fulfilled my need well;
    Fan is not so noisy, he expected worse;
    very easy to assemble;
    A good buy in a general way

    It does not come a sink for the memory, maybe it is not something so critical, but increase the value a little and include one would be interesting, because electronic components the colder the better!

    Raspberry Pi Cooling Kit
    Color:Colormix
    Ich nutze den Kit in meinem RaspberryPi mit OctoPi konfiguration. Es ist alle dabei was man braucht und der Lüfter ist nicht zu hören, gerade auch wenn der Drucker läuft, übertönt dieser alles. Das ganze Kit passt perfekt und ich würde es immer wieder kaufen um einen RaspberryPi zu kühlen, was sicher auch der Lebensdauer zugute kommt.

    Excellent Cooling Kit
    Color:Colormix
    This Cooling Kit is perfect. It is already installed in my Raspberry Pi and it's working smoothly. It's quite silent and keeps my device in the right temperature. I strongly recommend this item to all GearBest customers.

    PiFan + heatsinks
    Color:Colormix
    The main radiator is made of copper unlike the popular radiators made from aluminium. But unfortunately, the area of heat dissipation it has less (you can see on my pictures). The fan is pretty quiet.

    Good Product
    Color:Colormix
    - good build quality
    - easy to install
    - installing the fan upside down (the logo on the bottom of the fan) keeps the temeratur some °C lower as vent is direct blowiing on the chip
    goods.suggestion
    - the heat sink for the CPU is too small. It fits better on the chip at the bottom side of the RPI 3. see the picture.

    Good enough
    Color:Colormix
    It's no the greatest, don't expect to be able to overclock your raspberry pi safely using only this cooler, but if you have normal use for your raspberry pi, this cooler's gonna be just fine. Also the price is very good.
    goods.suggestion
    It doesn't have any major cons, the cooler is good for its price.
