Chuwi Hi8 Pro CWI513 Tablet PC

Bought this in the flash sale for a little under £60 once I'd used some points. Price was very good - especially given the state of the GBP post-Brexit.

Package was delivered really quickly - less than 14 days and arrived in perfect condition inside original Chuwi box. Comes with UK adapter for USB charger, which is great.

I already have the Chuwi vi8 super, which I decided to upgrade with this device. The advantages of this device on paper are that it has 1080p screen, instead of 1280x800. It uses the Cherry Trail processor instead of Z3735f, so should be graphically better.

My experience of this is generally very good. The quality of finish of the vi8 super is much nicer. There's less creak when the device is flexed. The fittings of the silver screws on the side of the case make it look higher quality too. The screen, as well as being 1080p is also a little brighter, with no lighting hot-spots as I have on the vi8. The CPU is about the same or slightly less performant in single core mode, but a little faster in multi-core benchmarks (passmark, geekbench 3 etc.).

The Antutu score is way better than the vi8's 45000 at around 65000. This is largely to do with pushing more pixels.

Gaming wise it's actually a little worse than the vi8 in Android games such as Asphalt - simply because it's got more pixels on the screen to push. But everything still plays snappily.

Memory benchmarks quite a bit faster (20-30%) although disk read speed is slightly lower. Disk write speed is faster by about 100% in all case according to crystal disk mark. If I recall correctly, peak read is around 120MB/s on this, as opposed to around 135MB/s on the vi8.

In usage, there's not much difference.

Android version is 5 instead of 4.

All in all - everything feels that much nicer on this device. It feels like Chuwi now really understand how to put a good user experience together for the customer and I'd be happy to recommend this device to anyone.

Suggestion

I can't find any at this price point, although I would love to have been able to buy an 8" 4GB Cherry trail processor, but I understand that Chuwi have to segregate the market a little and only provide it on its top-end 10" tablets. Would still have been nice though.

Планшет оборудован 8-ми дюймовым сенсорным IPS экраном с разрешением WUXGA, с не плохим по качеству изображением, быстрой работой сенсора и большим углом обзора. На корпусе имеются кнопки регулировки звука, выключения экрана и внешние интерфейсы: слот для карты памяти microSD, стандартный разъем для наушников и порт microUSB. Для беспроводной связи встроены модули Wi-Fi и Bluetooth. Слота под Sim-карту и возможности работы в сетях 3G и 4G нет.

It is light to handheld (plastic structure)
Buttons and slots are where they should. Don't disturb handling.
It just fits my hand but screen is yet big enough to see
Beautifull design: White color, nice touch feeling
Screen touch function moves agile and easy
Screen resolution is awesome
(good enough procesor, good RAM) It runs quite quick
SO is in my language (as I asked for)
Battery is good (there will be never enough)
Led light notifies charge (that helps)
Plug Power is not for EU but it comes with an EU adapter (thankyou very much!, I forgot to ask for it) (it came in the bag, out of the box, I didn't see it till it dropped out by itself. Could have lost it if I had litter package to trash can.
I like OTG function Type C slot and HDMI out
I think it's quite good machine. I'm happy with it

Suggestion

Price: I paid 129.99, now it is 94.89 :(
Patience needed: delivery lasted 2 months (to Spain)
I don't know how plastic screen will resist scratch
Very scarce user manual. English as bad as mine. :)

The quality of the product is excellent and it feels really nice in the hands. The screen size will fully meet the needs of a normal consumer and it is quite responsive. Both operating systems so far work really nice without any issues. Multitasking is running smoothly and there are no glitches in the videos or sounds. The usual games from Google Play run smooth and the quality of screen supports this feeling. Battery life is good and you can work 1-2 days without problems (even with Wi-Fi).

The item came quickly and in excellent package without concerns it could get damaged during transport.

Overall a very good tablet with excellent service from GEARBEST.

Suggestion

The camera is not so good especially in darker conditions.
It would be preferred had the tablet come with two speakers as sometimes the one speaker is not quite enough.
