I have a Mi Band and every time it needed to be charged I had to :
1- connect it to its cable, a short one
2-disconnect my cellphone cable from the charger
3-connect the the Mi band cable to the charger, that keeps connected to the outlet all day long.

Now I use this adapter on the Mi Band cable , when I need to recharge it, I just have to connect the my cell phone cable to it.

Just know, it does require a Type-C PD (power delivery) source that is 20 volts. It won't work at 12v, and I have not tested but can tell you anyway that it won't work at 15v, has to be 20 volts.
It does work though, and charges just as fast as with the factory power adapter brick.
